I agree with DeeAnne. I was in default and contacted by them. I did not pay the downpayment, and instead opted for the exorbitant monthly payment, which I was promised would be bought at the end of the probation period. Well, my probation period ended right in the middle of the recession! So there I was, stuck paying a monthly amount I couldn't afford in the first place, for an indefinite amount of time. So, I quit paying. For a couple of months I was ok, but then they sent me a notice saying they were going to garnish my wages, so I called them and worked out another payment plan. After my probation period was up the second time, I was bought out. I now have it taken off my credit report, which it was on, which made my credit score higher, and have super-low and easy monthly payments, with the option to go back to school. So, the moral of the story is if you can tough it out for just a little while, the long-term benefits totally outweigh the short-term difficulty. And, you get to claim what you pay them on your taxes next year, which helped boost my refund tremendously! Good luck out there!

something that people dont understand these days are the ideals of responsibilities. when you sign your original promisary note, you state that you agree to pay back the balance in full, along with the 25% collection fees that are tacked on when it falls into default. some people (no names mentioned) need to be more educated on the statements they make. first of all, when you fail to cooperate with collection agencies, its ACTUALLY A FEDERAL OFFENCE because they are backed by the federal government, because the money you loaned was provided by them. secondly other certain people ^^ say that we are uneducated... lmao. funny thing is we have to go through months of classes regarding the laws, regulations, and can and cant dos of collections. if we fail to follow those the job is on the line. i find it extremely funny when people try and tell us how to do our jobs. if you are an artist you wouldnt tell your mechanic not to do his job, because that is what he is trained to do, and you dont know a thing about it. point is people, take responsibilty for your self. dont sign something if you dont read it all, or agree to it. lastly, ACT IS THERE TO HELP YOU NOT SCREW YOU!! no one else will be as flexible as they will trust me i would know.
