Suspected clinical trials scam
Yesterday I too received a letter from Acurian Health soliciting my participation in a clinical trial (also known as a clinical study). I have participated in such trials before when they are sponsored by reputable clinical research organizations. I doubt that Acurian is reputable because 1) they are not in the National Institutes of Health registry (ClinicalTrials.gov) and 2) when I went to their website one of the first questions was for my birthdate. Not my age range (typical for clinical studies), my age or my birth year. My birthday month and date are wholly irrelevant to reliable clinical research but needed for various fraudulent activities, like cyber theft. I suspect Acurian Health is phishing and strongly suggest that no one offers them personal information. Reliable clinical trials can be found through your physician, large medical centers. ClinicalTrials.gov and disease related foundations (such as the American Heart Association). Stay safe!

Scam
My husband got one of their letters in the mail about chronic coughing (which I have due to allergies). He wanted me to call them. I decided to go to their web site first as I thought it a little fishy. Computer couldn't pull it up, kept asking if I was sure I had the right address and yes I sure did. Then I kept reading on down the letter and got to the part that said he received the letter because he registered at Acurian.com, voluntarily provided information to other data services authorized to share the information, or his information was obtained through public sources. Oh no it wasn't, My husband doesn't have chronic coughing - I do. This is a big scam to get your personal information and steal your identity. My identity has already been stolen once and I don't care to repeat it so I urge everyone who gets a letter from these people, or a phone call, or an email to totally ignore them. IT'S A SCAM.
