You can approach the Energy Ombudsman and file a complaint against Alinta. Make sure you provide as much detail as possible as they are pretty much looking after your interest and have the power to force Alinta to make good the full refund. I have just filed a complaint with Alinta and will take the next step with the Ombudsman if it is not resolved as Alinta will send you an estimated bill if their meter reader or contractor is too lazy to get into your property and take the reading amd make no adjustment on the next bill. So they must be ripping off quite a few people.
