First, if you only write checks you have enough money to cover, it will not matter in which way they arrange them. That is what you people do not understand. And most banks have a largest to smallest clearing. And just because a charge shows pending for a few days it does not clear until the merchant releases the ticket, which can take days. Do not blame the banks for your NSF. Stop using those checks and cards when you do not have enough money to cover them.

All of a sudden My Bank account Was rearranged In a manner to where I Had over draft fees!! so Miss/ Mr why the long faces Can you explain to me how 4 of my transactions shown they were deducted in the positive on a certain date and then posted in the negative 1 day later??????????????????? READ my post. CHECKS and DEBIT CARDS. Nearly every bank in this country posts largest to smallest on the day the merchants submit the charge slips for payments. If you NEVER swipe that card for more than you have, then you will never have to worry about it. STOP depending on your online banking to be real time and start using a checkbook to write your charges down.
YES, I can explain. Your charges do NOT show as cleared UNTIL the merchant submits a slip. Most times they do so in a few days, but sometimes can take a week or more. After a few days the PENDING falls off, and the funds are added back int your account UNTIL the slip comes in. IF you use your card as DEBIT (where you put in your pin) It shows in pending. BUT, if you use your card as credit (where you sign) It can clear faster, BUT might not show at all until the slip comes in for payment.
As for knowing your own bank account, obviously you don't or you would not be here.

It's really simple...KEEP A CHECK REGISTER! Write down all your debits, your checks, and SUBTRACT! It's basic math that a first grader could do! If you overdraft, it's because you didn't maintain your account. A bank account is a personal responsibility...it's not up to the bank to know how you use your money. Get a pen, a free check register from your bank and a calculator. It's that simple.

Overdraft
Capital City bank charged my husband $35.00 overdraft on his account for an ATM transaction that was done at their bank when there were sufficient funds in the account. After the transaction he had $10 in the account and now they don't want to give back the $35.00 fee. This bank sucks and I am working on getting my husband to switch to my bank where I don't have this problem.
