Seems like a scam
Horrible company. Sold about $200 in stock & they charged $18.00 "transaction fee". What a rip-off. STAY AWAY. Buy with good brokerage.

Seems like a scam
Computershare is horrible. I've about given up on ever getting the $2, 000 worth of shares I own (company put stock with Comptershare). Impossible to reach. Impossible to access from the web. May not be a scam but not far from it. I've given a 'donation' to Computershare and warn all from getting mixed up with this bogus company. Yes... it does seem like a scam.

Conputershare scam
I bought stock in Roseville Telephone and Telegraph Co. in the 80's and in 1999 it was sold to Surewest. Surewest has been sold twice since then. The first time to American Funds and supposedly now to Computershare. I got a notice from Computershare that if I did not send them my original stock certificates, they would have to re-issue my stock certificates at 3% of their value and a $50 processing fee. I never held the original certificates. They said if I did not pay the fee, the shares would go to the state of CA!!!! This seems like a rip off scam to me. I have contacted my financial advisor and will have her investigate this issue. I am not sending them any monies until I find out if this is actually correct.

THREE MONTHS OF TRYING TO TRANSFER 3 SHARES
I am a Financial Advisor with Wells Fargo Advisors and have been trying unsuccessfully for almost 4 solid months to help a client transfer 3 shares of former employer stock, left over from her 401k after she retired, to her IRA with us. We have made literally approximately 25 phone calls and repeated attempts to receive these shares to no avail. Each time we call to follow up someone different comes on the line but there seems to be absolutely ZERO communication between Computershare employees; there is ZERO willingness on the part of any employee to help us resolve this extremely frustrating situation; ZERO concern from the company that we are beyond exasperation with this; The INEPTNESS, lack of communication, lack of professionalism, lack of care is breathtakingly appalling. This is one of the worst experiences I have ever had in 15 years as an Advisor. This process should take 3 days! We have submitted and re-submitted paperwork exactly according to Computershare's instructions 4 times now and IT NEVER HAPPENS!! The hours and hours we have spent trying to help our client retrieve her shares is ridiculous. THIS IS A NIGHTMARE! We've tried speaking with "supervisors" and they share the same lack of compassion, care and concern that seems to permeate Computershare, shrug their shoulders, take no ownership and NO ONE IS ACCOUNTABLE. What a JOKE. They are a TRANSFER AGENT--this is their supposed EXPERTISE.This company should be SHUT DOWN. IF we don't get some response we will have to take this to higher authorities.

Do your job
I have been back and forth with this company for 13 years now and today is the final straw. First I updated my maiden name and address which, to there credit, is the only thing that has been done right. Then I tried to remove my father from the account which should have happened when I turned 18. The paperwork to remove him gets lost on their end, disturbing considering how much personal information it contained. Then I fill it all out again and he gets removed but my, incredibly simple, name gets misspelled. I call to fix that and get told I have to go through all the paperwork for a 3rd time So I wrote and e-mail and got a call the next day with a girl swearing up and down she could fix it all and I wouldn't have to do the paperwork again. Given the total incompetence up to this point I really shouldn't have been surprised that I got sent something today with my maiden name, not my updated name, and my father is on the account again! She somehow made things worse than when she started. I call to get this all fixed again and get told there are paper versions of the stocks and that's why they can't remove him? But they did! They can remove him because they already did when they misspelled my name!! She is saying I have to fill out more paperwork, pay for a notary, and pay $80! For something that never existed? Why was this issue never mentioned before? All the sudden this other issue that no one else caught magically exists? Now I am going to be out close to $100 by the time this is all said and done due to the incompetence of their staff? They have had 13 years worth of chances but I've had these stocks 30+ years. I have been beyond reasonable. All I need is:
1. My father taken off as a custodian
2. My name spelled correctly
3. Checks that I cannot cash due to the aforementioned issues reissued with the correct information.
That is it. That is all that needs to be done. I shouldn't have to beg for simple every day things. Let alone wait 13 years for it. This is all they need to do to make me happy. I am just asking for them to do their jobs.
