CHEATED & LIED TO

Ordered a scooter from MyMobility.com online that I was told had a height adjustable seat and would be light enough for me to lift. They offered free shipping too, so I was very excited. What I received was a super heavy scooter that took me 2 days to get out of the box as I waited for a neighbor's assistance. The seat was not adjustable and my husband could not even get on the scooter because the fixed foot rests didn't allow for any clearance of his legs. I emailed eight times but never received a reply. I tried several phone calls too, and finally got through a week later to Heather. She was not only very rude but kept putting me on hold for long periods of time. Each time she returned, she was even more rude and seemed to enjoy interrupting me several times.

Per Heather, I paid $999 for the scooter, but if I needed to return it I would have to pay a restocking fee of $179.80 and pay the original shipping of $134.54 and for the return shipping (which would be much higher than the original shipping because they get a discount that individual customers do not) and even though I have no way to get the scoot to any shipping location, I would need to find a way to ship the scooter back to them. She never gave me any answers to my questions, and flat out lied to me about a manager being available to speak to me after I asked several times. I also asked her to email me all of the return charges but she just laughed.

NO WHERE on their website did it say if you order a scooter and it isn't what you need that you would have to pay the original shipping and return shipping and find a way to get it to a shipping facility, and the restocking fee. I understand the restocking fee, but the free shipping that was part of the original purchase has to be repaid??? Now I understand how this company makes money...it's not for their scooters...it's all the profit they make on restocking fees and so called shipping costs. WOW talk about cheating the American consumers and handicapped consumers at that!!!!! I guess I'm gong to be out about $700 and have no product for this online purchase? Why does our government, the BBB and our consumer affairs allow this kind of thing to happen? These scooters are advertised as aids for the disabled to have some freedom...but it looks like DiscoverMyMobility has simply found a way to cheat our disabled and senior citizens out of their money and no one is doing anything about it.

I will try to get this on TV through the local news, but I welcome any suggestions from other concerned citizens.
