Incompetant
I work in a pharmacy, not ES or CS, but work regularly with doctors who tell their patients they are going to fax or call in scripts. Pharmacies have to wait on the doc. Just because you are low does not mean they can give you meds without a script. Be pissed at your doc who waited til the last minute. As for when they shipped, you are not the only patient they have, nor the only fax they receive. It takes time to get orders done. If you needed it that fast, and your doctor dropped the ball, then you need to be bitching your doctor. Oh, and just a note, most pharmacies do not use paper faxes honey where they stand by the machine and pull it out. The faxes are all electronic. ALso, if the pharmacy has to contact your doctor, which by the way is a COURTESY we do, not a right, it is for one of 3 reasons: Dose inaccuracies on the script, early refill, refill request, meaning yours was out of refills or expired. None of which is the pharmacies fault or responsibility.
Now, next time, make sure you order about a month before you need the meds when using mail order. And if you are out of refills, have your doctor know ahead of time so the pharmacy does not waste your precious time waiting for your doctor. And remember, again, calling or faxing your doctor is not a requirement, it is a nicety that can be stopped at any time. It has nothing to do with not caring. It has to do with following federal law.

Express Scripts constantly lie to everyone. They say they call my Dr. and when I check with them, they have never gotten calls. Why do THEY have to call? They say they never got my prescriptions! Their lies buy them time. They tell you they'll overnight at their expense but they don't. I order 2-3 weeks in advance and usually get my presc. in 3 weeks after calling several times. I think you're "Barking up the wrong tree" whythelongaces. None of what you said applies to Express Scripts. Everyone is mad about never getting their prescriptions due to their incompetence!!!

OK. I am barking up the wrong tree. I have no idea what the hell I am talking about. I just work in a pharmacy and deal with this type of thing everyday.
Why do they have to call your doctor? I just freaking told you: Your script may be out of refills or expired. They may need a dosage change. If you are ordering 3 weeks ahead of time, odds are they are having to wait for fill dates as supplied by your insurer. I think you should get yourself a job in a pharmacy then come back and tell me I am barking up the wrong tree. I was trying to help your smart ass.
