They are a scam
They are a scam. They "scouted" my daughter and invited us to their office. When we came they said my daughter's a big talent and tried to get a lot of money from me for some photo sessions. They already scammed my friends. Beware of this fraud!

Filmcomm talent, film comm talent
Filmcomm talent 'Niagara Regions .........' is a scam/switch and bait company. They appear to be interested in your 'skills' yet, like any truly reputable agency, they never ask for you to perform a monologue, view any performances you may have done, are currently doing, or may have in demo.
Helena (woman who tried to bait and switch me)/This company lures you in and meets with you a few times, tells you they want to sign you, then when you are back for the third meeting or so try to politely force you to go with their chosen photographer 'claim its only a recommendation...' yet tell you to NOT contact said photographer on your own, ask you to pay 3-4x more than what any other reputable headshot Photographer in Toronto asks, sell you a portrait package (which you don't need) tell you forcefully that you can go with anyone else but we may not sign you.
Then when you tell them you don't want to go with that photog (or if you do but not for that 'deal' or will pay directly instead) they drop you like a hot potato. A skilled, successful, well trained Actor that they desperately want to sign suddenly receives no reply....

Filmcomm Talent agency
I had exactly the same experience as the previous people described. This agency claims that they don't make you do the headshots with any particular photographer, yet won't sign a contract unless you go with one of the "recommended" photographers. The whole meeting sounded like a sale speech for Gabe Toth and his "famous" stylist, yet the photos on her table were nothing special, just regular headshots. And why exactly a small child needs the whole team for the hair,make-up and styling if she barely wears make-up and you don't see most of the outfit anyway???

FilmComm Talent Agency
This company is 100% fraud....Do NOT sign with them. They'll take your money and ditch you.
Helena, the very aggressive and flat out mean agent, will call you in to sign a contract but then say that you can't sign the contract unless you agree to use one of their photographers (which you'll have to travel all the way to Toronto for). She'll give you a ridiculous deadline to have the photos by (she wanted my son to have his headshots and negatives on her desk within 2 weeks of us meeting, which is nearly impossible for a busy photographer to do). I gave in, stupidly because I didn't want my little boy to miss out on the opportunity that Helena was supposedly offering, but the photographer needed longer to get the pics to her. So she told me that there are a thousand other boys out there just like my son and that they will have no problem replacing him. So even though I used her photographer and spent all the money and headshots she still ditched us after happily collecting her commission.
Plus, she flat out lied to my face because I asked her if she gets commission and she said no but the photographer told me she did.

Film Comm Talent Agency
This agency is a HUGE RIP OFF!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!
I have never thought of myself as wanting to become an actor/actress, or ever doing any kind of film work. But when I was scouted by Film Comm I got this rant that sounded quite convincing about how they're a serious agency, you can choose your own photographer and so on. So I went to their meetings, where they brush you off so quickly, then signed with them. When I said I wanted to look for my own photographer, I was basically told it would be a waste of time and to go with their recommended one. 660$ later, I got the head shots done with their photographer, then was told I needed FIFTY copies of the head shots to bring with me to auditions. Of course, I could get those done where ever I please as well. I went EVERYWHERE! They tell you that photos need to be on cardstock, with a one inch margins all around, and your name in the bottom left hand corner. NO PRINTING COMPANY DOES THAT. and if they do, they can't assure the quality you are looking for. So of course i was forced to use their printer guy, 170 later. Almost 1000$ I have spent on this agency and since they have signed me in JULY, I have yet to receive a SINGLE call for an audition and it is now the end of DECEMBER. I did everything they ask, and got squat. Regardless of if they are legitimate or not, they will do absolutely nothing to further your acting career. Your better off on your own!!
To anyone who is smart enough to do their research on this agency unlike me, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!!!!!! I am so disappointed. Wish i never pursued this at all!!!

Please Read
We are very sorry to hear that there are people out there that are disgruntled. We have never actually had a bad review from anyone that we actually represent. We felt the need to respond so that all who read this are aware of who we are and what we actually do. We will follow up this rebuttal with feedback from our actual actors...stay tuned for reviews from the talent that we actually represent who will outline the truth of who we are.
Sadly, anyone is permitted to post reviews anonymously on these websites and they in turn harm innocent businesses. These people do not have to verify who they are, if they have even had true dealings with the companies that they are slandering. We ask that all potential clients of FilmComm pls search the BBB database for complaints...you will find NONE in 15 years of operation. Pls also check the bad agency list on the ACTRA website....you will not find us on there as the truth is we have no complaints, we DONT sell anything and our talent love us!
The truth of the matter is that we do NOT have any photographers. All Agencies refer talent to the list of photographers on the ACTRA website ONLY if they need head shots. All the photographers are independent and the Agency doesn't benefit from referring our talent other than the fact that we ensure that our talent have the proper materials to be successful. It is listed in our contract and is common knowledge that talent is free to shoot with anyone they wish AS LONG AS the photographer is industry qualified. If not, the materials are mickey mouse and we are out of pocket for our FREE representation. Real actors and serious talent provide us with proper materials....otherwise why would we set ourselves up to fail by taking on a beginner actor, with no resume, and mickey mouse photos. You would then read reviews that we are not able to get our people work. Our actors are successful or we would not be in business for 15 years...we would also have a hell of a lot more complaints than the ones you are reading as we represent over 900 actors.
The below reviews were written by actors that we either refused to take aboard, they did not meet our criteria, OR they were released from the Agency for failure to attend their auditions and failure to act in a professional serious manner.
This group of 2 that is responsible for slandering us are disgruntled and have decided to remain anonymous for a reason.
WE ARE NOT A SCHOOL, WE ARE NOT A PHOTOGRAPHY STUDIO NOR DO WE WORK WITH ANY. WE ARE AN AGENCY, ONE OF THE STRONGEST NON-UNION AGENCIES IN THE GTA. WE HAVE NEVER EVER HAD A LEGITIMATE COMPLAINT FROM A CLIENT IN 15 YEARS. DO NOT LET THESE POSTINGS DETER YOU FROM COMING IN TO SEE US AND HEARING WHO WE REALLY ARE.
We invite the people who posted these falsehoods to contact the Agency and air your concerns any time. If you have any true and rightful issues or were wronged by any of the Agents in any way we will most certainly ensure that we rectify your complaint.
Regards
FilmComm Satff

Better late than never
I guess you could say I came into my film career a little late in life. I had retired from my professional career as a nurse and support worker 10 years before, but I was still meeting the public through several volunteer positions, inactivity is not healthy. I quickly got my interview and acceptance with Film/Comm Talent.! Right away I was running back and forth for auditions which I found to be fun and I don’t mind the travelling
My friends gave me lots of support and helped me out with places to stay. I was scared to death for my first shoot but everyone was most helpful and it really helped that my first scene included a kitty cat and a good looking guy. Things were carefully explained to me and second shoots were made as necessary. Everyone was friendly and encouraging. That was from my first audition.
Since, I have had several more auditions, a call back and 2 days of shooting for one production. I find I need to listen very closely to directions and nobody seems to mind if they have to explain the directions more fully!

Response
The above photographer is completely off his rocker. We have never heard of him or his work, he refused to return a deposit of one of our actors that decided against shooting with him. He has never called our offices....we simply have never heard his name. He is upset as we informed our actor that in 15 years we haven't heard of this man's work, he is not on the common referral list of known and trusted industry photographers .....his rates are high and his work is not worth the cost.
It is upsetting that he felt the need to slander us. Perhaps it would have been a better business decision to send us an email and show us your work so that we could look at sending our actors to him.
We can't screw anyone over as we don't have any fees, nor do we have in-house photographers.
Come on guys, don't you think we would have several BBB complaints or online complaints if this was true and accurate. These hand full of people are simply upset that we refused to represent them and we refused to send our actors to them to make money from their headshots.

Give them $......then it's over
My daughter has been modeling for awhile in a different country. We moved to Toeonto ,mead up on them. Then sounded legit. The pressured us to choose a few photographers they highly recommend. Weird thing is you book your photo shoot thru Film Comm. Sounds like a scam to me. Once you pay them your almost $700 for your photoshoot with a private company you never hear from them again.
Is this a scam? You be the judge. Yet I will tell you one thing........any other legitimate agency we have worked with has never charged us more than $75.
Melissa at Film Comm in Burlington , Ontario Canada acts like she is always very busy ( I believe all she is busy at is making sure you book your $700 photoshoot) and is short, mount and rude. She needs to find herself an etiquette class. FAST!

Response to Terkalas
The above lady is very very silly. Her daughter has been active for 2 weeks, brand new, never worked in the industry and posted this review after being active for 2 weeks....and now as a result we will be releasing her daughter before she gas even given the Agency a chance to rep her.
Nobody has to book anything through Filmcomm...its absurd. There is not one member of our roster in 15 years that has complained about not getting work through us. We are handling over 60 auditions per day right now. We do not deal with any in-house photographers, this lady clearly knows this as she shot wth one of the top industry photographers in the city...this photographers rates are clearly listed on their website.
Guys, please read actual BBB reviews and don't pay attention to the ramblings of silly people. 4 complaints out of over 460 actors is a tell tale sign of these revues being bogus!

You be the judge
FilmCom says they don't have any in house photographers. Yet you have to book photoshoot worth more than half a thousand dollars ONLY through photographers that FilmComm chooses.
Get rid of that condition and then it wouldn't sound like a scam to me.

don't recommend
Quite unprofessional. They did send me to a photographer that costed $600. I didn't think much of it cuz I needed the headshots anyways. After I barely received any auditions, and they few that I received were terrible and didn't fit my profile. not 1 addition. Didn't hear from the agent in 2 months and anytime that I contacted them they were quite rude most of the times. I don't doubt that this agency my work for some and some people can get actual auditions but from personal experience I don't recommend. The fact that the agency addresses some people in here it instantly looks unprofessional as well. Some actors in the industry that taught me don't recommend this agency as well.
If you decide to sign with them take into consideration that they might literally forget you but you might also get some work given that they are in the ACTRA list. For me it was a bad experience.
