Freedompoop scam needs to be reported to Attorney General of California
Fraudulent charges, false claims, inferior service, complete lack of support. This is an abomination of a cell phone provider. It is a cell phone provider from hell. It's fine to vent here, but the Attorney General of California needs to be contacted with your pertinent information.

This horrid company sold me a "refurbished" iphone with a 30 day money back guarantee, and battery was 79% depleted. Within 2 days I complained and requested a refund. They assured me that a good-working replacement iphone with a good battery would be shipped. The replacement was worse than the original. After many, many emails I finally received an email acknowledgement that I was entitled to a refund, and that a prepaid return would be issued. After returning the phone I was informed that the length of time had elapsed and they would not issue a refund. So, they have the phone, and I have nothing. To add insult to injury, they proceeded to charge my credit card for a year's service, months after I made the return. Not only do I not have a phone but there is no phone number associated with my account. I have hundreds of emails from FreedomPoop, many of which contradict previous ones. This company is clueless where it pertains to cell phones or the public.

FreedompopUnited States www.freedompop.com
Unreliable and buggy. Complex yet limited software. Poor support.
I found FreedomPop’s premium $19.95/mo service to be unreliable and quirky when I needed it the most. I was constantly missing calls and when I needed to call out, if I was not on my own Wi-Fi, my Galaxy S7 would only rarely dial out on the first several tries. 4G reception was sporadic and their software was complex yet limited in its options. I felt their proprietary software such as their Messaging app was system invasive, crippling certain features, adding steps to outgoing calls and more. When I needed it the most, it simply was not there for me. And I was charged for unintended extras.
I admit I was mainly trying to save money with FreedomPop’s $19.95/mo 1GB plan, but obviously it has backfired on me painfully. As I write this review, I want to port my number away from FreedomPop to another service provider. The FreedomPop.com website FALSLY STATES that both the “PIN & account number” required to port a number out are available at the website, under the accounts settings section, clicking “edit”. However, it is nowhere to be found on their website. To my surprise, I found that literally hundreds of other people were complaining about this same problem. Why on earth didn’t FreedomPop correct such a nasty error on their website.
This is quite frustrating for anyone, because a customer wants to port his number away and not have to think about it, and yet FreedomPop gives a critical false instruction, leaving the customer on a dead end street. And FreedomPop, already aware of their website error, does not offer fast customer service to help correct the problem for the customer. Instead the customer has to wait, and wait, and wait - for a reply from their “community” bulletin board, a separate site which, to make things a little more complex, requires an additional sign-in password.
With FreedomPop these quirks and defects are accepted by the customers who say they love FreedomPop’s service. I feel abused by them and just don’t want to take it anymore. I want to get out and away from what I feel is an overly (and unnecessarily) complex, yet limited and error prone system, with lots of hidden traps and costs. Check out the other reviews on the web, and beware of FreedomPop’s issues before you port your number over to them.

big scam
They have a huge activation fee $29.99 that is hidden in their promo offers as free GB or megabytes. I returned my $4.99 smartphone and didn't even open the package. Freedompop.com is a big joke.

Use a Burner Card
Worst service ever. They claim you can get free phone service.. limited but free. No matter how many times I reviewed my account, one day I must have downloaded just one too many apps and they tried to top-off my account. $15.00
Lucky for me, I had signed up using a burner credit card. So the transaction didn't go thru and wasn't tied to me.
Because of that, the next time I turned on my phone, the message within the Freedompop app was I violated the TOS because of a user initiated credit charge and this account cannot be re-activated.
Lucky for me, I honestly don't care. I would never use this service for an actual phone I needed to use.

Stop the scammer
I won't go into all the ways that FreedomPop scams customers because you can read it in this site as well as many others. What I will say is, if you purchased your service through PayPal you have a remedy. Go on your PayPal site and see what the last day you can protest this unethical and I must say criminal operation charges. I purchased three phones, well two phones were free where I paid for Activation and one phone was paid where I receive free activation. I paid $9.99 to Port a phone number and then I paid 3 pop up charges of $10 each. The total for all three including fees 4 top up and number porting totaled $110. FreedomPop advertisers cell service when they are actually providing a VoIP line which will use your Wi-Fi service, that is fraudulent. Because the service contracted for was never provided I disputed all charges through PayPal. FreedomPop did not reply to PayPal and therefore all charges were reversed. My total cost now for FreedomPop is $0. Doing a little research I found a way to bypass their constant attempt to access your Wi-Fi and have actually now been able to make cellular phone calls on all 3 phones! What you do is go to the messaging icon instead of messaging tap the phone symbol and then dial the number and it works. I sent FreedomPop three emails asking them to supply a prepaid mailer for me to return the phones but since they did not opt to do that I now have 3 phones that work! who knows how long they will work as I suspect that FreedomPop is either going to be sold or go bankrupt very soon. By the way, Sprint is now offering a unlimited talk, text and data plan for $15 per month. That is not a typo it is true. You can buy one line two lines three lines or four lines and each one is $15 yes. That blows FreedomPop out of the water easily when in actuality any other plan does that. If you add up all the extra fees for premium services that FreedomPop wants you would be paying well over $100 a month for absolutely nothing, what a bargain. FreedomPop started offering a $20 per month plan just this week which includes talk text and 1 GB before they slow down the system for you for their unlimited data. I suspect that $20 per month plan works like all the rest of them meaning it does not work. So, good luck and switch to Sprint for $15 per month and Sprint will not charge you erroneous and fabricated charges as the criminal operation of FreedomPop is so inclined to do.

Very Disappointing
Today I canceled a voice plan with Freedompop. I don't believe I signed up for it, yet I was billed for a number of months.
Also, I tried very much in vain both to contact someone by phone without paying to voice a complaint, and to "submit a ticket" from the support site.
It seems virtually impossible to speak with a real person without being billed $5.95.
On the support website, you can supposedly “submit a ticket”. Doing so requires your FreedomPop email and password. I tried this probably 10 times in 2 different browsers. In each case, I was returned to the login screen with no error message or directions.
I would think that a technology company would find this situation very embarrassing.
Very frustrating!!
I would like to speak with someone having the authority to refund charges to me for services never used.
I'm not sure it will ever happen.
