GEORG JENSEN NECK RING NO: 238 DESIGNER ASTRID FOG
A PERTH jewellery collector says he has been fleeced of $6000 in an online scam after he tried to sell a rare designer necklace on the internet.
Mr. *** ***** is fighting for the return of a valuable 1970s Georg Jensen necklage he sold on eBay,
Claiming the buyer asked for a refund, but returned a fake.
Mr. ***** sold the collector”s item to an American buyer in March, but received a complaint that the item was chipped and was asked to refund the $6145 purchase price.
After refunding the money,the 61-year old said the necklace was returned to him with “FAKE” pendants.
“It was in perfect condition, Mr. ****** said ”I refunded the money $6145-80 date:14-4-2013 before I received the necklace 18-4-2013. Im too honest and people try to prey on your honesty”.
He said he sold a piece from his collection because he had taken time off work for health issues and needed the cash.
Mr. *****was speaking out because people needed to know the dangers of buying and selling on-line.
“I haven”t been working since October last year and Im trying to get by,” he said.
“This has really rocked the boat. I couldn”t believe it. This ordeal has been terrible.
“We had home insurance, but it won”t cover this. Make sure you take out private insurance.
Mr. ***** has made a complaint to WA Police and US authorities, but doesn”t have much hope of getting the money back.
And while the necklace was sold for just over $6000, he said it could be worth anywhere between $12-15.000.
In a series of online exchanges, the buyer has strenuously denied Mr.***** claims.
Consumer Protection WA issued a warning to online buyers and sellers after scammers robbed WA consumers of $170.000 in online transaction this year.
Consumers Protection Commissioner Anne Driscoll said the 45 complaint they received included bogus buyers and sellers using legitimate sites such as Gumtree and E-bay to scam money.
“The scammers con victims into making payments usually by wire transfer which makes it difficult to trace, identify the criminal or recover the victim”s money, Ms Driscoll said.
As a buyer, you need to be careful about paying money for an item unseen as the online advertisement could be bogus and the item you purchase may never turn up.”

Further to my previous correspondence with you, I am writing to provide additional detail with respect to the fraudulent activity of Gallery 925, which is owned and operated by Rachel Prater.
On 23 March 2013 I sold a Georg Jensen silver neck ring and buckle (code No 238) to Gallery 925 via EBay for the price of US$6145.80. Payment was made and held in my PayPal account, pending clearance.
The items were securely wrapped in bubble wrap in such a way they could not be damaged, and posted via registered post to Gallery 925’s San Francisco address.
Shortly after receiving the item the buyer, Rachel Prater, contacted me via EBay to advise that there was a chip on the left hand side of the neck ring and asking for a refund of the money.
Acting in good faith, I reversed the PayPal payment to Ms Prater on 14th April. On 18th April I received the returned items, realising that the items received were not the same items which I had originally posted. The blue colouring of the neck ring was completely different to that which I had posted.
The item originally sold to Ms Prater was of the same style as a belt buckle and bracelet ensemble (code No 238) which is currently in my possession. In comparing these items to the neck ring returned to me I can clearly identify that it does not match the other pieces, being lighter in colour. Two of the flower pendants from the neck ring have been swapped with two other pendants. I have attached photographs of all pieces for your information.
In follow up of the alleged fraud I have reported the matter to the Western Australian police and the Californian police. I have also reported the alleged fraud to EBay who claim that as the transaction has been completed and the payment reversed, they are unable to investigate it.
I have also attempted to expose Gallery 925 on various consumer websites such as Complaintsboard.com, Review Talk and Sitejabber, some of whom have taken their own action to alert consumers to Gallery 925.
The purpose of this letter is to ask BBB to further investigate alleged fraudulent activity of Gallery 925 and Rachel Prater. I would either like the original piece of jewellery returned to me or the full amount of $6145.80 paid to me. Also, given that Gallery 925 website uses the BBB logo to endorse the business, BBB may wish to consider the appropriateness of this in the light of my experience with Gallery 925.

Further to my previous correspondence with you, I am writing to provide additional detail with respect to the fraudulent activity of Gallery 925, which is owned and operated by Rachel Prater.

Acting in good faith I reversed the Paypal payment of US $ 6145-80 to Gallery 925 payment, date: 14-4-2013.On 18th April I received the returned items, realising that the items received were NOT the same items which I had originally posted. The blue colouring of the neck ring was completely different to that which I had posted.
The item originally sold to Ms Prater was same style as the belt buckle and the bracelet ensemble (code No 238) which is currently in my possession. In comparing these items to the neck ring returned to me I can clearly identify that it does not match the other pieces, being lighter in colour.Two of the flower pendants from the neck ring have been swapped with two other pendants. I have attached photographs of all pieces for your information.

Here are the images of the BELT BUCKLE also damaged and part of the same claim. Leo claimed both items he sold me were in "mint" condition. The fact is Leo tried to pass off TWO items as mint to get maximum profit by deception . He can't claim foul on one without the other.
