I've been a member of Global Discovery Vacations since 2008. I've only been told once that I couldn't get the location & dates requested, but it was peak season and I knew it was a long shot. I have stayed in beachfront, beautiful condos two - three times per year since joining, plus two weeks in Gatlinburg in peak season. I've never had a problem with the service at Global, at all. In fact, when one condo turned out to have a couple of small maintenance issues, resulting in having to wait for a repairman for a couple of hours, I received a certificate towards upgrade fees on my next stay. I've read before that there are two travel clubs called Global and that they are often confused? Anyway, I've been extremely pleased with my membership.

I did join on a trial basis, the free trip for joining is a scam they put you up in a travelodge not that this is the worst hotel but you can't even upgrade with your own money. The travelodge is in a bad neighborhood, I have family that live near the area the Spirit Incentives people put us and before we went my family told me it is the worst, poorest part of town, with a lot of crime. So we decided not to go at all. A Free trip where you can't leave the room is no vacation. As for Global Discovery Vacations the jury is still out. I scheduled a vacation and will let you know if it too is a scam.

Well here am back on the boards. I put a request in last week on the 9th. Asking for a two bedroom condo in North Myrtle beach (ocean front). I have a message on my machine tonight, there is no availability in Myrtle Beach for ocean front. The best they can do is 5 miles away and it will cost me $1, 000. Why would it cost me more?? I will find out! I left a message for Steve Moody at ext 7840. I explained that 5 miles away will not work. Think maybe he stuck to the North Myrtle (hoping). I said any two bedroom ocean front complex would work. I explained how I talked to Eric Stout and Heather Love-Allen and don't want to have to do that again but I will. I will continue to update the board.

Got a call today, seems I filled out the wrong form online. I filled out the one for a discount week which is a rental??? Didn't even know that was a part of what Global does. So when my wife called (Steeve Moody) they told Her that we were out of luck. First the dates we want are no longer 120 days out, second 120 days is not enough time to get an ocean front property. NOT beach front condo, just a property that is ocean front! The best they would be able to do in all of Myrtle beach is 5 miles from the beach. We said that is not acceptable. So I called and got the same story, so I requsted my activation fee $399 back since we will not be using the program this year. Was transfered to Diana (who was much more helpful than Steve) She said she had to check with her boss. Came back on and said they don't normally refund the money but they will make an acception this time.
I am ready to get on board with the rest of the folks on the web and will start talking to friends (Lawyers and Bankers) to research the options to stop paying the crazy intrest rate loan they BS'd Me into. I will continue to post what I find.
TO anyone else waivering, I would say the return is not worth the risk!

No Disabled Condos
I am a 100 percent disabled veteran who after listening to there agent state that there was ample availabity of condo due to a agreement with another company I believe RCI--they are liers in my opinion based after hrs and hrs on there computer to trying to located a condo that lists an elevator-there condo with RCI have next to nopne elevators. Call Global and they will dance you around the proverbial maypole trying to teach you like the cat to chase your own tail!!After 10000.00 dollars dont make this mistake you will be very very sorry

Misrepresented
My husband and I recently signed up for the Global Discovery Vacations membership. We were told Global had thousands of locations. And not just condos, but also cruises, RV rentals, camping, concierge service, even discount shopping! This sounded like the membership we've been looking for.
After we signed the papers, they gave us our membership book with all the information, and we went home and immediately started planning. We already had a vacation booked for Alaska with a stop in Vancouver to start. We called the concierge service to see what our new membership could do for us in Vancouver. She said she could not help us and gave us the number for Global member services. Then we looked up places to stay in Anchorage and found Global does not have property there.
We decided to try another vacation. St Louis next year in June for a family reunion. The closest place we could find was Lake Ozark - 2 hours away. A beautiful place, but not where we needed to be.
We tried Crater Lake - something on our bucket list. Again, nothing in the vicinity. We tried Cozumel, with the same result. You do have places in Mexico, but nothing close to the diving spots we were looking for.
We tried Tahiti. Yes it is available for $189 a week with one star and another for the extra bedroom (we travel with family), on top of the annual activation fee $389, plus the international fee (that one we didn't know about), plus another star because it is always in peak season.
By this time, we were thoroughly discouraged, so I made an appointment with Brooke Maynard, Director of Compliance at Global Connections in Ormond Beach. He showed me how to navigate the site. We discussed the "extra" fees for international travel, camping, cruises, peak times, and extra rooms. I learned that the Travel Agency did not necessarily give you the best prices. They are more of a middleman to take care of your reservations. We compared airline and cruise prices from other companies - Global could not beat these prices. So I asked - what did we spend our money on, Mr Maynard seemed actually apologetic when he finally concluded that we are saving money on the $189 a week condos.
Now we are VERY concerned. So far, we've searched and haven't found anything that serves us. We decided to try one more time. Memorial Weekend, Ormond Beach, 2018. We found Sea Shells Beach Club. But before accepting the reservations I had a question about the cancellation policy. I called and talked to Jamus Eccleston. He said he wasn't sure about the policy, but would be happy to answer any other questions about Global and show us the condo.
We met, spoke at length about the company and it's perks. He was very informative, but there were some things he wasn't sure of, and so - gave Emily Ceruzzi's contact - she in turn gave us Eric Stout's name to try to resolve this.
I guess what I'm seeing is that this membership isn't benefiting us as we thought it would.Had the list of locations, extra fees, extra stars been presented prior to signing, I believe this would have made a difference in our decision. Other than releasing us from this contract, I don't know of anything that can be done to improve this situation
It's been three days and we haven't heard anything.
