Very poor service!

Mayan Palace Timeshare Scam
I attended two Mayan Palace timeshare presentations while on holiday, to get the freebies offered, and both times successfully managed to resist buying anything. But some of the tactics used to get you to sign are pretty outrageous. Typical tactics involve insults (you are too cheap / too stupid / too afraid), keeping you three times as long as they said they would to try and wear you down, and in one case putting a "plant" in the room they left me in to "have a think about it" so he could report back on what my objections were going to be, thus allowing them to have a ready answer. And to cap it all, the gift voucher I got at the end of it was for a store that closed an hour before I was "released" from the presentation. I imagine they try to target people who are on the last day of their holiday to avoid having to actually redeem any of the vouchers as a result. I had the last laugh, however, as it was only the penultimate day of my stay...

Private Reserve Travel Collection is a scam
We stayed at the Grand Mayan for 2 weeks in April 2018. We are happy with our RCI and Vacation Village at Parkway (Florida) ownership, but rarely go back to the same city twice, preferring to see as much of the world as possible. Every now and then, when we feel we have the time, and when the gifts offered are worth it to us, we take the time to hear a timeshare sales, with no intention of purchasing. Vida Vacations gave us a free buffet breakfast and about $300 Cdn in discounts on room charges, resort fees, groceries on site, restaurants on site. Everything others have said about their shady operations is true. When we listened and then told them we weren't interested we got "what do you have against us?" as if we were biased against Mexico/Mexicans. When they finally said, OK, please see the next person to review what we could have done better, he tried to sell us something else. They did this twice, then said we would see someone who would arrange to give us our discount documents. All this took about 6 hours! Once we'd been there for a couple of hours, we felt like we wouldn't get the discount documents unless we stayed to talk to these people. In the end, we were so tired, we fell for the last offering, which was called the "Private Reserve Collection", which gave us one complimentary week at Riveria Maya or Acapulco (after we'd already told them we were never going back to Mexico!), and some weeks there for the same kind of exchange rate that we currently pay RCI, so really no deal. What attracted us was they said they would give us access to other places around the world for these rates. We asked to see it online, and they resisted at first, then ran thru a quick preview. However, after we bought the package ($3970 USD!) access to the site for us was not set up until after we returned home. Then we saw that there was not much availability for any place we were interested in, and the prices were all at the high end of what RCI sells Extra Vacations for. We'll probably never make use of any of it! Totally ticked that I was so tired out that I fell for this. But then, that is what they count on when they strive to keep you there for so long.
