Cheated out of tans
I was scammed too recently 3/8/2012. I will never go there thank god I was only out off 86.00 they were really nasty to me and it is the same people don't go there its very stressful and not worth the aggravation. There's something morally not right with them, also it is know under a new name the sign says LA Sunset Tans and it still run by the same people as Hollywood tans.

I just signed up with them and they are a complete Scam!
I went ti get my first session and the they wont let me tan u less I buy my eye wear an tanning lotion at their place this is unbelievable! That store should be closed I've been a member of Su set Tan for years at several different locations an never had a problem like that!
Even the prices are outrageous I've payed half of what I payed here in the past.
The staff is a bunch of idiots and rude!
Thank god I can use my tans at any other Sunset Tan location and I will! I will never enter that place in Stroudsburg again!
Also people who are thinking about sining up beware you will go in there to ask for a price next thing u know they make u sign up for a full package if u like it or not because what they don't tell you is ones you tanned one time you have to take a package because they don't do single tans! BUT NOBODY TELLS YOU THAT WHEN YOU WALK IN!
Also in my first session I was not given any eye protection wear or lotion where they claim now they did!
Well assholes I have news for you that rip of place has cameras and I already spoke to headquarters let's see how far u will get with ur scams!

Cheated out of tans
I'm glad I found this - I was robbed by them 2 years ago when they owned Hollywood Tans in Brodheadsville. My plan was to visit Sunset Tans tomorrow and begin tanning there but now it is time for plan b. They are the biggest thieves I have ever dealt with in my entire life. BEWARE - YOU WILL BE ROBBED BY THIS FAMILY.

Cheated out of tans
I signed up for a package in January and was told I would receive 3 mo unlimited that started after my first week free, meaning I would be charged for the three months starting in February. I was giving the free month, then told that the end of March/Beginning of April my package was up. You can do the math on that one. I should have had a package until May of it started in February. I bought $30 more for an extension on months until June. When I went there on 4/6/12, I was told that my lotion was expired and that I would receive a credit for the lotion I had left. The "manager" was the one to handle the situation in a completely shallow approach. He spoke to me as if he had my money already so what did he give a shit? He told me he would give $18 towards a $44 bottle that was still full (I had only gone a total of 13 times). I told him I would just keep the bottle and he told me I could not tan. I said I would just grab lotion from home then. And he said "ok!" in a smirky way and then said, "well just so you know, you won't be allowed to tan here then." and because he didn't approve of MY attitude which anyone who is being scammed of money would have, he told me to leave. So now they have my money as of last week and I am not allowed to tan there. There has to be someone to talk to about this issue. They conduct business completely inappropriate, there beds are absolutely 100% disgusting to touch, let alone stand in. The service is horrible, and once he sees you've caught on to his game--he gets defensive and tells you to leave!! They are all a bunch of crooks. They told me I signed something about the lotions liability to expire in 3 months???! Completely false. If I did, it was before when they were still Hollywood Tans. Not under their new established name. I will freely speak on how horrible they are until their business diminishes. I feel foolish for being shocked by this with the way our country is turning out to be, but I really didn't know businesses were allowed to take money and not provide a service back.

Cheated out of tans
I am 100% on everyones side, I bought a tanning package through them and was told that I could go to the tanning place which mom owns in Brodheadsville at no charge and have been doing so for months. All of a sudden I went in to tan today and the mom was extremely rude, yelling at me telling me that I had to pay $5.50 to tan at her salon because I didn't get the package through her tanning store, never mind the fact that I had just tanned there Monday April 2 and today is fri April 6. She as well as her kids should not have open businesses with the public. I've also had lots of trouble at the LA sunset tans in stroud commons with her son. He has tol me that I need to buy new lotion more often than I've ever had to at another salon and that it has to be their tanning lotion or I'm not allowed to tan there or I wouldn't be able to go the full time. When I do get upset with him he also starts getting loud and yells and makes you feel like you are lower than him. They are very unprofessional and don't let you use the things that you paid for. It's always some excuse

This place is horrible. I bought a package and was told after going tanning twice with my lotion from last year that now I had to buy their lotion. I told them I was fine wearing my 11 month old lotion and they said it would ruin their bulbs. I then explained that I only use the stand up booth and don't touch their bulbs and they said it would evaporate off of my skin and get to the bulbs that way. Are you kidding me??? The funny thing is Joey lies and says he can tell by the last 4 numbers on the bottle that it's expired and they no longer make that lotion in the bottle I had, which I had purchased their the year before. Ironically, they still had it up for sale on their shelf. When I inquired about this, I was told it was there to show it's the old bottle. Joey had a ridiculous excuse for everything. It was obvious he lied about every question I had. This is the worst place I've ever done business with in my life. I will never go back and I have sent everyone I know to South Beach Tanning, who doesn't care if you wear lotion or bring in your own, which is how it should be. STAY AWAY FROM LA SUNSET TAN!!! I DON'T KNOW HOW THEY SLEEP AT NIGHT KNOWING WHAT A SCAM THEY RUN!

Forced to sign contract
This place is HORRIBLE! They are a bunch of shady crooks! Before today, I never really had any issues with Hollywood Tan/Sun Set tan. I always felt they were up to trickery with the contracts, needing to "exchange" lotion, the amount they charge for tanning packages, etc., however, I liked their beds so I just continued to go. BAD IDEA.
When I went in today, the "manager" let me tan and as I was leaving he told me we needed to discuss my contract/package. He told me that my tanning sessions were used up as of my session before today. I asked why he would let me tan if I had no sessions left on my account. Why would he let me tan before renewing/purchasing any package?? This is where the trickery comes in! They want you to tan first and charge you later so they can force you into paying for a package! They already did that to me when they did the whole Hollywood Tan/Sun Set transition. I gave them my FULL bottle of Hollywood Tan lotion that I already paid for and they switched for some other cheap LA Sun Set lotion. Then I had to purchase ANOTHER package and they would just add the old sessions to the new package! WFT?? They are the same damn owners, same beds just a different name so why were the customers forced to by new packages and lotion. If you don't sign up and hand over your lotion you lose your old sessions that you ALREADY paid for. Very shady business practices.
With that said, I told him he should have informed me that I had no sessions left before he allowed me to tan and I wasn't prepared to commit to another package today. He said that I had to commit since I already went tanning and my account is set up on auto-renew once I use all my sessions! He kept giving me information in a circle and not making any logical sense. I said I would only pay for the one session today but I didn't want another package. He said "you know we don't do single sessions (again more trickery)". He was really pissing me off, I refused to pay for anything or sign anything and tried to leave. At that point he ran from behind the desk and locked the door and said I couldn't leave unless I paid and signed a contract. So this "manager", held my young daughter and me hostage because I refused to pay. So I said ok well we will call the police then cause I'm not PAYING FOR ANYTHING!! So I called the cops and when he saw I was talking to them he was like this isn't a police matter, you can leave, we will deal with you later! "Deal with me later" WHAT!!! No it's is Sun Set Tan who is going to need to deal with law enforcement agencies. The BBB and Attorney General of Consumer Protection will definitely be hearing from me! They are shady crooks! Stay away!
