Buyer Beware - Breeder is a Liar

My name is Matt and I'm the Relationship Manager with Puppyfind.com. As our name was mentioned in the body of this complaint, I feel it necessary to leave a comment concerning our connection to what has been written.

Oftentimes when individuals mention Puppyfind.com in a complaint such as this one, it is the immediate assumption that our company has a direct and desired involvement and connection to the parties involved. While it is true that our website was created to bring dog breeders and buyers together, Puppyfind.com does not take part in the actual sales of the dogs shown on our website. We do not actively endorse any specific members that come to our services, nor do we participate in any agreements or contracts made between individuals who decide, on their own accord, to deal with each other. Furthermore, Puppyfind.com does not participate in the exchange of any funds for the dogs advertised on our site, or the transportation of any dogs that are sold while advertised on our website. In short, Puppyfind.com is simply a meeting place for people to come together, and all who come to our site do so of their own volition.

Our Terms of Service (TOS) state that we do not pre-screen members. Due to the nature of our website, we cannot be held liable for any direct, indirect, special, consequential or exemplary damages, including but not limited to, damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data or other intangible losses. While it must be acknowledged that the complainant does not hold Puppyfind.com responsible for anything written in the complaint, I must also acknowledge that it is these types of complaints that cause many people to assume our company somehow endorses either party involved and the actions taken by either party. Puppyfind.com does not condone any type of activity that violates our TOS, and will remove members found to be in violation of our TOS and the law at large.

While there have been cases of bad breeders using our site without our knowledge, as soon as we are provided the proper documentation that proves a certain member is violating our TOS and the law at large, we will take the appropriate action and remove any member that does not and will not comply by our TOS. Each situation must be dealt with case by case, as sometimes a breeder may not know they were violating our TOS, and a simple correction is all that is necessary for them to be in compliance. Other areas may be a bit more gray, where a breeder perhaps had a bad experience with a potential buyer, but on the whole, the breeder has not expressly or intentionally violated our TOS. While a situation like this may be upsetting and grounds for further inspection if there appears to be more to the story than what is initially seen, if a member has not been proven to have violated our TOS, we can't simply remove them because we “feel like it” or because a buyer or another breeder does not like the breeder in question.

Ultimately, if anyone does plan on purchasing a dog from a breeder that advertises on our site or any other website, it is always important to do as much research as possible before signing anything or making any sort of payment, be it a deposit or a full payment. Do not rely on just one source for a point of reference, and if there is any sort of doubt concerning a breeder or a dog, know that it's okay to walk away from the sale.
