Unemployment Benefits
My husband works in construction and is usually laid off 2 months out of the year. He'll work a few weeks, be laid off one or two then go back. He's having all the same problems it seems that everyone else is. He CANNOT get through on the phone, the weeks constantly change for filing requirements, we aren't getting money and we have two children and are behind on the bills. The rare times he got through which was months ago, the lady he got said there was nothing she could do to help him even if mistakes weren't his fault like when they switch the day to file or he'll do everything he's supposed to, send it in, and they'll say they can't find any record of it. He's had more than 2 "waiting weeks" this last year...ridiculous! He just got off the phone trying to call them again and was on hold for 43 minutes until out of nowhere the call ended! I can't even get a job with two degrees because no one is hiring around here, I'm being completely honest that I have sent out 100+ resumes/applications since graduating from college with my last degree in August. There must be something we can all do. This is just depressing...

Unemployment Benefits
I am totally confused with the system. I had benefit money left as of December 25th, then one day after I filed, it said I had a zero benefit amount left. Refiled, it said pending for 2 weeks and the automated center said is would be processed shortly. Then tonight it was all cleared with no record of my past two weeks of filing and again I had to do another application. The automated said I should receive notification within 4weeks! What is going on? I was only on unemployment for less than 12 months!

You can call and call and call and call....and hardly ever get ahold of someone! The unemployment system in Ohio is absolutely rediculous! When they screw up, it's us who has to wait an extra week, or an extra month before we get a paycheck! It would be different if we didn't work, and pay into this garbage! But we do work and pay into it! Then when when we need it....good luck! I just got a layoff Dec. 26th of 2012, I worked we'll over 20 weeks and I'm still waiting on a check from unemployment! It's been over a month! They waited 4 weeks to tell me I was denied! Said I didn't have enough weeks in the base period! When I first filed I reported all my work! They should have known right then that they needed to tell me to fax in my pays tubs! But they waited 4 weeks to tell me that! And that's after talking to them several times during the 4 weeks, and them telling me it should be fine, after giving them a little info each time. Then I get denied! Then I call again and they say to fax in my recent pays tubs! Something they should have known to tell me when I first talked to someone! This is absolutely rediculous, cause we cannot do anything about it! They can do whatever they want, and take as long as they please, while we're the ones getting charged late fees and overdraft fees, and can't pay our bills or buy food for our children! Something needs done about this!!

ohio unemployment
What can be done though? The governor is horrid at his job and has redone most of the unemployment, My unemployment was started and about 3 months after its started, this is with a lot of work inbetween, union worker, that I was told 1 week back that was paid and my waiting week was taken away because a company said i never worked for them, when I finally got ahold of someone they gave me the number and addy who they contacted on the job , it was wrong they never used the info of what i gave them instead looked up the company name themselves which was the wrong company, My claim was closed down, it would only allow me to claim weeks to add up till the problem was corrected and they sent the info to the right company. that was finally corrected on the waiting week and I didn't owe back the week they wanted me to pay back, but instead 2 different weeks that i claimed while this was all messed up I was told that its denied due to not reopening my claim? wtf it was closed to their faults, and computer issues. even though it shows I claimed the weeks and called in and notes were made by the different people that answered that tried to reopen themselves and it wouldn't allow them, its my fault cause I didn't reopend then file weekly claims, makes sence, Our unemployment system is a flaw, i have 4 kids to feed, and all I got was 3 different determinations on the same 2 weeks saying different things. this is our gov, making up BS to not pay us, tax paying citizens

Red Tape Benefits
In very few words, I have worked all my life. I have never filed a claim. I was laid off from my full time job. I have always had a part time job in which I only work 2 days out of the month to supplement my full time salary. Apparently, this is an issue. It appears because I work a total of (7-8) hours every two weeks, I have to keep filing additional applications EXPLAINING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER: (I AM EMPLOYED PART TIME TWO DAYS A MONTH - 1 DAY EVERY TWO WEEKS). Forget the fact that I report the hours and have supplied all the pay stubs showing that I get paid every two weeks for (7-8) hours. Every time I check the status its held. I have met all the requirements in finding a job (uploading resume etc). The irony, while I am looking for a job, an I get called, guess what, I can't even meet the potential employer, I don't have the resources to even get there. I swear, if I was a deadbeat, the unemployment would go over without a hitch. This is just another instance that PROVES, HONESTY is not the best POLICY. I guess in the mean time, while they are verifying the same thing that I have told them week after week, I am to starve and walk to potential job interviews. This makes me so upset, because this is a benefit that I pay into. I have never been on welfare or collected a FOOD STAMP in my life. I watch people that have never paid into the system get afforded everything, but I constantly get delayed because I WORK PART TIME. Ridiculous. Thank OHIO. I will remember this when it comes to voting. This has to be the worse.
