Hidden fees
I had my brother book me a room at a hotel in the bay area as I was in urgent need to visit my sick mother. He mistakenly thought he was booking direct to the hotel, but Reservation.com had the top spot with Google and they had the hotel name in the website so appeared to be the hotel. My brother quickly booked only to find out later that the"Taxes and Fees" were outrageous. Deduct the hotel tax and you get your fee basically which was $170.00 for three nights. More than the actual taxes were. Now I know he should have been more careful booking, but that is just a waste of money. Plenty of other sites to go to and not have a hidden feel buried with the taxes. My other complaint was, when I contacted Reservation.com about what their fees were, no one could respond with a coherent answer. Just some BS about estimates of taxes and "it is a number we can't get for you" Sounds like they are ashamed or embarrassed about how much they charge so they don't allow a customer to find out. Beware of Reservation.com. There is no reason to ever use them to book a hotel.
