Rude, Unhelpful Attendant
On October 9th, 2017 (Thanksgiving Day) we were on our way home to Saskatoon, SK from Regina, SK. Just outside of Hanley (1.5 hours from Saskatoon), My daughter asked if she could drive the rest of the way home. We got out of the car to switch seats and to make a long story short, got locked out of our car.We were feeling rather panic stricken, since our purses and cell phones were locked in the running car. At least we had pulled out of the way of on-coming traffic. Our signal lights were blinking and the radio was blaring inside.
The Shell Station was just across Highway 11 on the outskirts of Hanley. So I walked over there, while my daughter with a coat, stayed by the car. I did not have a coat and at 6:00 pm the temperature was falling. When I got to the station the only attendant was cleaning up the garbage can area. I spoke to him and told him of my predicament. He did not answer me, he just kept on working with the garbage bags. When I moved to go inside, he said that no one was in there. So at least I knew he was aware of me.
When he went inside, so did I. I asked him if he could help me, and he just shrugged his shoulders. Then I asked if I could use a phone and a phone book. He made a comment that I should say 'please'. Anyway when I started to look up a number, he told me to move off the counter. Even though there were no other customers in the store. By that time I was nearly in tears. So I moved away and tried to find a number for CAA, with no luck. Then I tried to call home a few times, but the phone wouldn't work. Finally he told me there was no long distance on that phone. I asked about other phones, but he acted like he didn't have any, even though I could see 2 phones right around the desk. HE SHOULD BE DISCIPLINED!!!!!!
So I left the building not knowing what to do next. Some ladies were getting into their van and I asked if I could use their phone.
They kindly lent me their phone and I was able to get hold of my family in Saskatoon. My husband called CAA with all the details. At about 7:00 pm a very polite, kind, young man came and got our car open. He let us sit in his warm truck while he did so.
