Ripped us off for something we didn't do

My wife and I decided to go on a trip to Italy. We have rented a car there so that it would be more comfortable for us to travel around the country. We rented the car at Sicily by Car. We drove it for two weeks, and agreed with the manager that we would return the car right at the airport when we were suppose to fly home.
When we were renting the car there wasn't enough gas, so we filled the tank right away. And when we returned the car there was more gas then there was at the beginning. The guy who came to take the car back accused us of damaging the car. He said that there is a scratch at the front, but we couldn't see any scratches so we disagreed with him. He gave us some papers to sign, saying that it was for the end of the deal. Then a few weeks later we received a check for $750.00 from them, saying that this money should be paid asap, it was for the damage of the car. So the document I signed was actually me admitting that we scratched the car!
What a scam! Do not use this company!

Check In Statement

I hired through rentalcars UK. I chose Sicily by Car for my vacation from Pescara Airport Italy. I checked the vehicle on day two of my hire to discover the engine required oil & coolant. I provided through my cost.

On returning the vehicle to Pescara airport on completion of the hire period, on Sunday 20th July 2014 @ 20.hrs, I had to make three attempts to obtain the signature of the representative on the check in statement. There was no change, or damage to the vehicle from taking hire. The representative of Sicily by Car attempted to dismiss my requests for her signature on the check in statement on each of my pertinent requests. She tried to filibust her way so as not to sign the check in statement. She even attempted to throw the paperwork into her refuse bin. After my forced persistence I managed to obtain her signature on the check in statement. I have subsequently advised rentalcars UK of these disgraceful happenings. I still await their response.

If the hirer does not obtain the signed check in statement on conclusion of the rental period indicating that there is NO DAMAGE to the returned vehicle, it is possible that Sicily by Car will make a claim for damage to the vehicle. The hirer will have no evidence that the vehicle has been returned undamaged without the signed check in statement.

It was evident to me that this female representative of Sicily by Car was attempting to have me return the vehicle without signing off the no damage check in statement. Her attitude was to say the least aggressive, belligerent and totally arrogant to the point of being abusive. It indicated to me that she was making a blatant attempt to NOT sign the check in statement.

Illegal withdrawalfrom creditcard

I was involved in an accident caused by another person. De police was very helpful and did a good job regulating the whole process. They even helped me filling in all the documents. When i returned the car at Linate airport, Autoeuropa Sicily by car, the person at the desk told me they would withdraw € 962 from my creditcard till the insurance company of the other party paid their bills. Although i was not to blame for the accident, they took the money and never returned it to me. I sent emails, called them 10 times, never received an answer. This incident took place april 12 2014, so 113 days later, i still haven't received my money.

I also informed my creditcard company and they told me that they encounter a lot of problems with rentalcars companies in Italy.

I will treat this action as theft and act accordingly. The file will be sent to my lawyer and i canceled all my contracts with Sicily by car.

Furthermore, i work for a company with 60000 people worldwide and this message will be sent via internal mail.

Sicily by car.....never, never and never again.

Avoid renting with SICILY BY CAR toget unkown big-charges!

I rented a car with Sicily by car at rentalcars.com. The experience with the car was not good. Our surprise came when, 3 months later, there were unreasonable charge in my credit car for 61 EUR.

I immediately google SICLIY BY CARE and found out I am not the only victim, you can reference thease other-victim's accusations:

Never rent from Sicily by car!

We rented a car using your site from the company Sicily by car. We took the car from Milan Malpensa airport 12/12/16 till 20/12/16. After that we rode to Trepalle, close to Livigno.
14/12/16 we realized that car is broken and can not move. We called to emergency phone number, toll truck arrived and evacuated the car. In several days after that we were informed that the fuel was frozen and it is our fault. We did not buy insurance from Sicily by car but we bought it from your site when rented the car. Could you please check if it covers the damage.
Till 19/12/16 we were without any car. Sicily by car told us that we can get another car only in Bergamo which was in 4 hours ride, they were not going to pay for taxi. They also told us that we need to call to Bergamo ourselves to get the confirmation that there is a car for us. Next several days we were trying to reach Bergamo office by phone but failed. they did not answer our calls. Emergence company toll truck tried to help us but also was not able to talk to Bergamo. Another option from Sicily by car was to wait for our old car to get repaired. So we had to wait, it was repaired 16/12 but they informed us by phone at 11:00 that we need to take it from Darfo Boario Terme till 12:00. the place is 3 hours ride away, so it was clearly not possible. We were able to take it next working day on Monday 19/12. Sicily by car told us that for the whole period when we were without any car they will charge us as if we had a car.
When we rented the car Sicilly by car take 900 euro deposit from our credit card. When we informed them about problems with car they took another deposit - 960 euro, not even informing us about it. We also were charged for full period 12/12-20/12 - about 160 euro.
Now we are back home. When we gave back the car in Malpensa we were told that everything is ok with the car and that first deposit 900 euro is released. But until now the money was not returned to us. Another deposit - 960 euro - also was not returned. As a result - we paid more than 2000 euro for 3 days of rent.
please note also that nobody informed us about possible problems with fuel though we told to Sicily by car that we are going to Livigno. We got a car with full tank of fuel, without any information about what kind of fuel is in the tank, without any manual for the car, any recommendation whether to use some antifreeze or not.
