For the People who have decided that Stevens~Henager College or any of the number of schools under the College of America umbrella is not a good school, a complete scam, and an utter waste of your time. Congratualtions you have already been educated futher than the rest of us schmucks who spent the money to attend and graduate from one of these schools. To all of you jack holes who can not understand what the underwhelmed, undereducated, completely pissed off people are saying...piss off.
I have attended the Orem, Ut Campus. I started out in the Medical Specialties Degree hoping to obtain a certification in X-ray technologies until I found out that it only covers limited scope which will land you a 10.00 an hour job. The entire Medical Specialties Program is just a bunch of individualized certifications that does not lead to a bright future in anything more than a job making about 10.00.
Once I realized I had been completely bs'd I decided to un-enroll myself but was then told about the respiratory therapy program. This held a little more interest for me and still being to nieve to research it better because I wanted to get in and get it done and get back to work I went with that program. This also turned out to be a complete waste of time as the program director did not have the slightest clue as to what he was supposed to be doing over packed the program with too many students. Now I do not know how things were for other campus's but at the Orem Campus we the paying student were treated like the bastard red headed child because we were Orem Campus students. The main program being at the Murry, Ut campus and Orem, and Ogden being satelite campus's for the program. We had no lab. We had no adequate equipment. What we did have was plenty of complete incompitance. We had teachers whose every anwser to a question was read the book. We had finacial aid staff who had no clue what they were doing, we had the school president Vickie Dewsnip tell us we just needed to try harder as students. We had a Program Director who was under educated and known to have lied about his qualifications to the school, among other professional review boards etc. whose solution to the over crowded program was to accuse students of cheating and completely dismissing them from the program with out any kind of review board. Only those who faught it were allowed to return to the program because they had not only failed to follow federal protocalls but because they also had no proof of cheating. Additionally for those of us who decided to stand our ground also asked to see our master file which they must keep for federal records etc and they could not produce the file for the specific classes that cheating had been suspected. Needless to say the Program Director was asked to quit (or be fired), the individual who replaced him was not any better. She wanted to talk about integrity to the students who had been accused of cheating but neglected to mention that the reason she was working for SHC was because she lost her job at the U of U Hospital because she got caught having sex with a married doctor, her being married her self as well. Tons of Integrity. Having gotten to a point where I was 2 months from graduating with the associates degree and still had not even touch a ventilator (something a respiratory therapist does frequently) I decided to change my course of study to something that would not result in me killing someone because of my lack of education. I transferred my degree to the BS degree for Healthcare Admin. I recently graduated with this degree to find it is completely worthless as the school is not accredited through a recognized accrediting agency. It is recognized through the Dept. of Education but not by anyone in the medical industry with in the state of Utah. I now have a 53k dollar degree that is worth less than the toilet paper with which I used to wipe my butt with. The people who have been very out spoken in favor of this school are probably employee's of the school. More than likely someone in their marketing department.
Look bottom line do not go to this school. They promise small class sizes but then pack them so full that there is standing room only. For example my phlebotomy class had 72 people registerd for it and were placed ina class room that by fire code was only ment for 30 people. We were supposed to meet twice a week. Due to the class size being so large however, the class was not only split between 2 campus's but into specific evenings so instead of getting the 2 nights a week I got one night a week and there were still 50 people in the class and they still charged me full price for the oppertunity to be under educated again.

Discrimination
Stevens-Henager President Vickie Dewsnup has made the choice to pick and choose what students receive their transcripts after graduation. My wife just passed the final nursing exam for the college as well as completed all the credits however the President is holding my wife's transcripts hostage. I have contacted channel 2 and 4 not only is this discrimination this also affects my wife's raise/promotion from her current employer. So my next step will be legal action against the school for damages. I will also name The President as Becky Richards and Holly Sowerby.

As being a former employee of Stevens Henager, I can tell you that I COMPLETELY AGREE with you ALL. I had no idea how corrupt this "college" ( and I use that term LOOSELY) really is with the way they take your money and spit you out. The fact that they will take ANYONE without any placement test is insane. So what they do is call you up, feed you a bunch of horse &*%! and send you out on your own. Now I worked for the Online Division and I would get students that could barely work a computer, let alone understand how to access their classes or attempt to do the homework. This made me so angry that they are all about themselves, charging innocent people over $40K and more, which is why I don't work there anymore. I wish someone would sponsor the voices of those (all of you above included) and make a commercial on youtube, or even better on the TV, instead of their stupid commercials that come on late at night encouraging students to enroll. Ugh, I could go on and on, like I have been above because it's so frustrating and really sad that this is happening. I don't know how they sleep at night with the thievery that they take from people just wanting to further their education and move up in the world.
TO WHOEVER READS THIS...DO NOT LET A REPRESENTATIVE TELL YOU THAT THEY ARE FURTHERING YOUR EDUCATION AND HOW GREAT YOUR LIFE WILL BE AFTER YOU GRADUATE FROM THERE. GO TO A REAL COLLEGE THAT IS LOOKING OUT FOR YOUR BEST INTEREST AND WANTS YOU TO SUCCEED!
GOOD LUCK!

@ SCHATER - if a student does not know how to use a computer they have no business signing up for online classes to begin with.

JAMR3624 - This is JUST for you!!!
You need to do your homework, because everything you said about SHC is not fact. I happened to work there, and I know all about the scamming and taking advantage of innocent students. It is really sad that you don't know what you're talking about, because if you actually knew that no school or business will recognize the degree. So with that, the students are left with a $40-$90K debt that will take them YEARS to pay off, and for what?? NOTHING, NADA, NYET. They are left without a prayer of being able to find a job in their field or transfer to another college.
So before you go spouting off how many degrees you have, or what major you are going for, or what experience you have... you definitely didn't get your money's worth with your grammar and spelling. EEK, You might want to ask for a refund for ENG101, and then just use spell check from now on.
As far as your rant regarding regional and national accreditation this does not apply when it is a SCAM SCHOOL..
Hope that clears things up for you. If not, then reread what EVERYONE else has said about this matter. ;)

My family and I are at the point where we are considering legal council for the fraudulent ways of this so called "school" and would greatly appreciate it if anyone else who would like to join or have considered getting a CASE ACTION SUIT against SHC then please email [email protected] with information you think is important as well as your experiences with the school. PS. please make sure the email subject matter makes it known that the email is regarding action against SHC!!! This school needs to fall back into it's rightful place and stop taking advantage of all the people it is currently taking advantage of now!!!
I was a recent student with SHC and was dismissed on Feb. 28, 2012 this year. When I started the paperwork for this school I should have known it was a sham. I started paperwork for this so called "school" May 23, 2011 for a Bachelor's in Computer Science and my first start date was June 20, 2011. Now during the process of filing papers I was still in HS so I was actually working towards my HS diploma, it came closer to the first start date and I was contacted to discuss either holding off on the Bachelors degree until the fall or to switch programs to an Associate's in Graphic Arts because something "magically" happened with my financing. I then had to go through the enrollment process 2 more times before they actually got it right and in doing so I was in and out of classes due to the system kicking me out and getting the wrong classes due to a mix up in paperwork where they still had me listed as a Computer Science student. I let them know i was having issues with getting into the courses and that they would change every so often and was told that they would look into it.
Now with me starting paperwork in May, I didn't get my first book until August which was another "fun" month for me and my family. I live in NC and in August of 2011 Hurricane Irene was knocking on our doors and heading to the Eastern Seaboard and boy did she tear us up! My county was listed as a natural disaster area and my family was without electricity for a little over a week where we spent the time sawing down larger pieces of wood to make a fire to keep warm and cook all the food that would go bad. On August 25, 2011 I sent emails to several people letting them know about Hurricane Irene and that when it gets here it would be hard for me to complete school work until after the fact. On August 26, 2011 I received an email from ONE of the financial advisers telling me I had to sign some papers ( I HAD FILLED OUT THE DEPENDENT PAPERS 4-6 TIMES BEFORE AND YET AGAIN I HAVE FILL OUT THE FORM AGAIN!!!) so I filled out the form again in order to receive the computer for me to use and was told after that he would get back to me. August 27, 2011 Hurricane Irene started to tear up the Eastern Seaboard. (PART OF MY DISMISSAL AND DENIAL OF APPEAL WAS BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE CONCRETE DOCUMENTATION... HOW DO YOU PHYSICALLY SEND IN EVIDENCE OF A HURRICANE???) September 04, 2011 I sent out an email to the financial adviser asking if he knew anything about the laptop, September 05, 2011 he replied and told me that I had been cleared for the laptop since August 25, 2011, and on September 06, 2011 my Academic Adviser sent an email saying I had been cleared.
Now I have been cleared since August and they tell me in September that I am clear and I didn't get the computer I needed for my classes and programs until the end of September. To this day I had had issues with the classes changing every two weeks for the most part and other classes I couldn't even get into because the systems would not let me get in them and said that I was not qualified to get in the class followed by the tech support and advisers telling me I can't take the classes yet. I personally don't see how a student can make good grades when the system and advisers continue to pull the student out of classes and make them restart them 2 and 3 times.
According to them for about 7 months now I owe 10, 000 when they sent a tax thing stating they have used 11, 000 which 5, 500 came out of due to a pell grant... so if indeed they used 11, 000 and I owe 10, 000 that comes to 21, 000 when my course itself is 39, 000 which means for 9 classes they had me do repeatedly I have incurred most of my tuition and course costs and I still have 20 classes to do. I recently received an email telling me that they used 3, 500 from one loan and 1, 200 from another loan and in my statements it showed that for the current year expenses were 8, 900... HOW IN THE WORLD DO THEY FIGURE I OWE THEM MORE THAN WHAT THEY HAD ALREADY TAKEN OUT??!!?! Please get back to us if you would like to continue with action against this SHC!

Stevens Henage College is not just a sham but a major rip off. They take advantage of international students in the worst way possible. The international office is headed by incompetent and unprofessional people who discriminate against foreign students on the basis of their nationality and lack of sufficient information on their rights.
We can complain all day but the best solution is to take a legal action against the school not only to protect ourselves as current students but also to ensure that other innocent students do not fall prey

Deceptive trade and fraud
Stevens Henager College used deceptive trade practices in duping me in to enrollment with their college. Additionally, their financial aid office committed fraud in processing my student loans and Pell Grant.
I was contacted by telephone from Stevens Henager College in late October of 2012 to consider enrollment in their online college. During my enrollment process I was repeatedly lied to by my admission adviser, his superior who claimed to be the manager of student financial aid and other school officials. Said prevarications included promises of being provided full eBooks and text books that I could download and text books that would be sent to me. Additionally, I was promised that I would have access to the colleges learning portal for life so that I would be able to come back and use the resources to help me 'brush up' later on the things I had learned while attending their college. Finally, I was promised a $3,500 rebate on my tuition upon completion of my third month of attendance with their college.
On January 15th, 2013, in response to a financial award letter I received on 1/14/2013 from the colleges financial aid department, I sent a letter to the colleges financial aid department requesting that they cease all activity in obtaining funding from federal student loans and a Pell grant.
On February 4th, 2013, the college withdrew funds from the US Treasury in the amount of approximately $7,500 without my authorization and in direct conflict with my demand that the college cease all activities in obtaining federal student loans and a Pell grant in my behalf. This is a violation of Title 34 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Section 634, and constitutes theft.
On 3/19/2013, I sent an email to the college’s financial aid office asking them to return the aforementioned funds to the treasury department. The college replied very rudely informing me that they denied ever receiving my aforementioned letter to them, a fax and or email concerning the same. The college demanded that I provide proof that I sent the aforementioned letter. In response, I replied back to the college stating that I would initiate a lost letter claim the USPS and encouraged them to do the same.
Additionally, I conveyed to the college that regardless of whether or not they had received said letter, that their reply proved that they received a copy of the letter from the email they replied to. Therefore, under the aforementioned code of federal regulations, I further requested that they consider the letter they now admitted to have as a request to return my student loans and Pell grant back to the US treasury and or whatever source they received it from.
As of this date, my wife and I have sent several more emails to the college concerning the same, but they have never replied to us again. Both my wife and I called the college on numerous occasions and have repeatedly been told that there was no one available in their financial aid department to talk with us. On 2/25/2013 my wife called and asked to talk with the Director of the College. A man answered the phone and told her to "stop f-cking calling the school."
In March of 2013, I contacted several of my class mates to find out if they were experiencing similar problems with the school. Numerous people have told me that they were lied to by their admissions advisers during the enrollment process. One student told me that he was also promised a life time access to the learning portal for educational resources so that he could come back at later times to brush up on what he learned. He also told me that he was lied to about being provided eBooks and text books.
Additionally, another student informed me that she had been contacted by someone at the school claiming to be a compliance person who asked her if she would file a complaint against me for harassment for my contacting her by email asking her about her experiences with the school. She immediately told them that I had not been harassing her. The person she talked to became very belligerent with her and threatened to expel her from school if she did not cooperate with them.
Stevens Henager College is nasty organization to get involved with. If you are currently thinking about enrolling with these scumbags, do not do it. They will lie to you, rip you off and who knows what the heck they are doing with your personal and credit information. Stevens Henager College does not train their people for compliance with FERPA. Though federal FERPA regulations require the college to train their financial and records people for FERPA compliance, the administration of Stevens Henager College and their parent company, College America, consider the same an unnecessary expense.

Holding Diploma
I graduated in 2011. It took me 2 years to get a straight answer about my graduation diploma. I talked to many employees and nobody gave me a straight answer. I worked really hard to pay off my school balance and my school loans. Paying them all on time. After two years of trying, I got an email from my school explaining why they still haven't sent my diploma, it's been about two years later. They said even though i've been making daily payments for my school, and balance. They still can't release my diploma til it is all paid off. Like i'm supposed to pull 10k out of a hat.
This is completely ridiculous. I am paying off my loans, and paying the school. Yet I still can't get what i'm entitled to? I'm sorry but that is ridiculous, and i'm filing a complaint. It took me two years to get straight answers, basically going from person to person being told one or the other. No it doesn't work that way, not with any college or any graduate of a college. You go to school, you pay for it, and you get what you're entitled to. Just not from Stevens-Henager.
The school has a terrible reputation too. Please look up Lee Berger the former dean of the Ogden, UT college and what kind of ethics this school has. Terrible, Terrible. Listen to the complaints and do your research and DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL.

Stevens Henager is full of it!
I attended this college for 7 months in the Graphic Arts program. I had a 4.0, was on the President's list. I thought everything was so easy because I was so smart. I had applied for student loans to cover my tuition, and the books were sent to me, but they were always used. The day after I got my laptop I noticed a knick, but I thought that maybe I had done it, although I couldn't figure out how, since I kept it on a smooth surface. Didn't really think much of it. My laptop was stolen shortly after I left the school(which I left because I was told that my loans had run out and I couldn't afford the exorbitant tuition), before I could send it in.and the school told me I would owe them $1000. I moved shortly thereafter and forgot about Stevens Henager. They contacted me a few weeks ago and informed me that I had $80000 worth of student loans in default, and that the laptop was worth $1200???... They said they took the rest of the student loan I had left and paid about $500 of it, leaving me with $600 which rose back up to almost $1300 because it was collecting late fees each month. Now I cannot get my financial aid at my community college because the federal government picked up on the unpaid loans and they want my transcripts. Problem is, I have to pay close to $600 for the stolen laptop first, before I can get my transcripts. A friend told me that it was ridiculous that I would owe that much money for 7 months and it sounded like fraud to him. So I started reading reviews about the college, and realized that I am one of many to get duped by this school. I'm about to call them back and tell them I'm not paying one darn penny, but I want to sue their pants off. How do I go about it?

What to do in this case....
This school is an absolute fraud, a diploma mill....and above all....they are simply in the business of making money. Contact your local Department of Education and file a complaint. It won't do a whole lot for you, but it will get your complaint on record with the people who allowed them to get into this "business" in the first place. Then, contact your local State Attorney's office and file a complaint with their consumer affairs section. They will be very interested in what you have to say!

Stuck because of SHC
This school is an absolute joke. I graduated from SHC in 2012 with a bachelors degree in accounting. I enrolled in this program with hopes of getting my CPA. So after graduation I started on the path need to sit for the CPA exam. This year I have done what was needed and was about to enroll in some prep classes for the CPA. Come to find out I CANNOT SIT FOR MY CPA because SHC is not accredited by the right place although when enrolling at SHC I was told that their program would allow me and prepare my to sit for my CPA. I also called a recurtier the other day and acted like I was interested in the school and again was told that I would be able to sit for a CPA upon completion of the program, which is a bunch of BS. I am now $65,000 in debt with a worthless degree that I can do nothing with. I am stuck, I cannot further my education like I planned. I do plan on pursuing legal action against SHC.

Stevens-Henegar is wrong and should fix their mistakes!
I was told by Stevens-Henegar associates that i would be helped with certification in different jobs and would be helped to get a job i couldn't get certified because i needed some registration number that was different than my student ID number proving i passed my classes and was up to date with my ceu's when i asked the school for it they acted like they had no idea what i meant. The school finally found the number i needed to register for the certification exams and then i was told it had been too long since my last class and i needed to retake the classes before i could register for the exams while going to school i was told that any classes i passed i could retake without paying anymore for those classes i asked the dean of my program to retake the classes i needed since i had passed all of them i was told i had to re-enroll which meant more financial aid i couldn't afford i did to try to better myself the student library lost my book and told me i still had it which meant i could not check out the ones i needed for my current classes and i could not study which made me fail my last 4 classes i was enrolled in and they still took my financial aid my GPA went down and i lost my aid anx decided to drop out a month later i got an email saying they had finally received my book they lost and i owed more money failed my classes didn't get to take the classes i needed to get certified my GPA went down and i fell totally tooken advantage of Stevens-Henegar uses, lies and manipulates everyone and should not be a school and should give forgiveness to all students who attended and fix it so they can get certified or licensed in their field.
