Consumer reviews about SYNLawn Synthetic Grass

Hot and horrible

I'm a contractor that installs these synthetic lawns. We have not had any complaints about pet oders yet. The one very important key is proper drainage beneath the lawn itself. The base product we use is a CalTrans spec "Permeable Class 2 base rock.". Installed at a 6" depth with the soil subgrade draining away from the center of the lawn allows for proper drainage thus keeping a clean lawn area. We also install an irrigation sprinkler pop up system that allows you to not only rinse your lawn but to cool it down as well as needed. Clever trick. It indeed can get hot in direct sunlight. In shaded areas, these lawns can not be beat unlike natural grass that commonly get soggy and die off. Beware of cleaners or chemicals such as pool acid (if you have a pool). If you spill it on the lawn, it will turn bright blue in that area. I hope that this info is useful. Chris @ Douglas Landscape Construction, San Jose, Ca.

Hot and horrible

Thank you for your comment. I even had a rep come out and they agreed it smelt, but the advice given to me was to pay to have it removed and reinstalled. I am confident it is a drainage problem.

Appointment No-show

This is not a review of the Synlawn product, installation, general customer service or cost.

I had scheduled a time for a Synlawn rep to come to my home for a quote and to descuss my project. At an inconvenience to myself since the rep would be driving a good distance I scheduled a day and time that was best for him (the rep did not ask for this or elude to scheduling for his convience, I was being considerate and he knew this). The time for our appointment came and passed so I called. He was at the office and clearly had no recollection of the appointment. Mind you, he called several days prior and left me a message confirming. He then told me that somehow the appointment didn't make it on his calendar.

He then offered to drive out however, as I stated above this appointment was already made at an unconvience to myself and I did not have a hour and a half to wait, to reschedule would mean waiting another week or two for my schedule to open-up. I spoke to his manager just to make her aware of his failure to show. She offered to send another rep to my home which really was the best she could do outside of having a conversation on professionalism to her reps.

I declined and based on this less than stellar start, I was in no way going to hire Synlawn for a $6000.00 plus project. There are many solid companies that sell & install artificial grass. For anyone deciding to make such a purchase & enter into a contract with a company requires a lot of trust. Said company's employees from the one answering the phone to those doing the install need too know they represent their employer for high cost projects their customers work hard to paid for and, have to live with for over 15 years in many cases.

If you want to be the best then behave like the best in every aspect of your business. Miss appointments, speak to a customer in a rude or disrespectful manner, use inferior products, do poor work and charge excessive prices.....expect negative reviews online, complaints to regulatory agencies and even lawsuits. Even something as simple as missing an appointment can you someone's business.
