The same "William Broadbent"
** Just The Facts, No BS, No anger or expletives **
I won a court order on July 3, 2018, against Toronto Matchmakers. After 3 written and delivered in person notifications, and 1 by phone, the agency has not paid. The agency did not come to court or communicate with anyone.
I did a corporate search on Toronto Matchmakers, and discovered:
1. There are 4 or 5 other companies (some are still in business), and a similar number of domains, registered by either William Broadbent or another family relative also "someone Broadbent", in 3 or 4 cities (other provinces in Canada), and in the US.
2. Companies that do the actual business are NOT the same company that is registered as a Corporation.
3. No employee working in these companies give out, or print his/her name, on a business card. It is strictly first name and no surnames.
4. There is NO actual criteria matching, and it seems as random as any other random matching.
5. Companies that charge the client's credit card are NOT the same as those registered in the same city, state, or even country.
6. Every year or so, the companies that have accumulated enough complaints are folded and closed down by the owner(s) and a new one is created.
7. This has been going on for AT LEAST 15 years (check the domain name registration) and continue in Canada due to a legal loophole, namely, the Request for Examination that a client wants to issue to force the manager/director to come to court, can only be granted by the court against a director of the Corporation, who is not residing in the same city, province or even country. The "working" sales or customer service staff don't have to have to come to court to explain non-compliance with the court order.
8. This loophole, and people's lethargy, lack of time to get back their money, or their embarrassment in admitting being suckered or similar, and a bunch of other reasons (slow legal process, etc.) allow companies like "Anything Matchmakers" or "Singles" to continue to operate in a totally unethical fashion in day.
9. Both names, WILLIAM BROADBENT and VALERIE BROADBENT, are on the Corporate record registered in the province of Quebec for the business "CÉLIBATAIRES DE TORONTO INC." This is the "Parent Company" but the Toronto company operates under the name "Toronto Matchmakers'.
10. All of this "web of deceit" is honed and developed over a number of years, and unlike the class action lawsuit against tobacco companies, no one has died of a first or second-hand scam by a dating agency! There are NOT enough people with will and time to launch a class action lawsuit against these agencies!
There is a marketing company in Toronto called Instinct Marketing, an exact "clone" of the same-name company in the US, and the founder cut his teeth in the business as a "hot dog vendor" (https://www.instinctmarketing.com/who/bios.php).
As they say "I'll my socks if I got my facts wrong".
