Shoddy Business Practices/Poor Service
My experience with united auto recovery services has been nothing more than unpleasant. It is unfortunate that my spouse and I were greeted with a series of circumstances and conditions that crippled us financially. Needless to say we had critical decisions to make; car, mortgage, food or clothes and other essential items for our child so we had to choose the obvious; and of course the obvious happened (I rather the car to be taken than the house for our son has special needs).
I don't have an issue with the fact that some unidentified male with a companion had been snooping around my property taking pictures 2 days prior to our vehicle being repossessed. I don't even have an issue with the fact that these same guys camped out in front of my drive way from the time I noticed them until I got tire of the tow-truck eye sore sprouting from the edge of my driveway. The problem I have is that the individual who signaled for his compadre to back the tow truck up into my drive way provided me with little, or better put inadequate, information. He showed me a piece of paper and stated his purpose for being in my drive way, which was to take our car and that was it. I could not get a business card nor could I get his name. Every question I posed was met with "ask your financial provider they will give you all the info you need". I mean REALLY!?!
In any event, to make a long story short we complied with everything; we caught up on our payments, faxed this document, and notarized that document. Although everything was completed by the 23rd and United Auto Recovery received the letter of clearance on the same date I was ping-balled from corporate office to a local facility and then to another local facility. Despite doing everything that was asked of us we were unable to get the vehicle before the holiday weekend. We have four different numbers for United Auto Recovery and each one sent us to another one which in turn ultimately we were sent back to our financial provider.
Today, we still do not have our vehicle. Today, no one can tell us if we will be responsible for 5 additional days of storage fees stacked on top of what we already owe them. And today, we are told that we cannot get our vehicle back until tomorrow which could possibly mean another $25 tacked on the top of the total amount due. I do not know what the total amount is because they will not tell me. There logic is that because my name is not on the release form they cannot discuss any details regarding the vehicle even if it is my wife for whom I am speaking. We should not be held responsible for any fees from the 23rd 'til the 28th being that we did everything we were supposed to do and I was continually met with rudeness and service ineptitude. I am a reasonable man, I would not complain if they stick us with the fee for Friday the 23rd even though the company closes early and I had to go through so many different channels to piece together what was going on. But: to tell me that it’s my fault and that my vehicle will not be released, and to give me and my spouse a hard time because my name was not on the letter of clearance, and to suck more money out of our household all the while making me feel powerless in the process is utterly distasteful.

Shoddy Business Practices/Poor Service
Just want to tell you that I totally understand. Unfortunatley my boyfriend is going through the SAME thing... They took his truck, and we immediately scrounged up everything we had in all of our accounts combined to get the amount they needed to reverse the repossession. After the bank did their clearance (apparently), now we have a few numbers to United Auto Recovery and have left 10 messages for tina fisher... no reply. Hang in there... we will get through it eventually, but it is very wrong of a bank service provider to take advantage of those who are suffering from this terrible economic time. My bf was laid off after coming home and taking a job after serving in our military for 8 years. It was either pay his apartment or his truck... he was choosing to pay the apartment, in hopes that a job would surface before his truck was taken. I'm happy I am able to help him though. The only thing we can do for eachother in times when the banks/governement abuse the people of less fortune is stick together and help eachother through this however we can. Thanks for posting your story... I'm sorry that you're still struggling to get the vehicle back.

Nature Born Thieves
The employees working for this company are thieves. Yes my car was repossessed by this company. When I went to retrieve my personal items from this company, I was given my personal items, checked them with two females employees there to witness. One even showed me pictures of the gps and where it was located in my car, and it was listed on the personal item inventory list. I was told how to file a complaint only to have it denied This company SUCKS!!!!!
