No way to know what you're getting
Went in today to get both my kids cut, and they had two different women do it. One child came out with cute hair, and the other looked like absolute sh#*t and I'm now re-shaving it and getting her her mohawk back because I can't have the poor thing walking around looking like Lloyd Christmas from Dumb And Dumber. I mean, she looks absolutely HORRIBLE. It was spades better before I took her in to get it done. She now has this absolute hack job of bangs that makes it look like someone gave the poor little girl a 1970s bowl cut.

Satisfied customer
I always go to the one inside Walmart on Bolger St Independence. First time i saw Makayla i knew she's the one who would understand everything i want to make me feel comfortable with my hair and i was right. Makayla is so amazing and i told her ill be lost without her if she leaves this salon. After couple of months i went back the salon was closed permanently. I was frustrated i don't know how to find Makayla i trusted her with my mine and my daughter's hair, up until now i haven't done anything to my hair and it's time for hair cut/color I'm still looking for ways to find her. I just don't trust anyone else but Makayla she is the best.

She took somebody ahead of me
I've been getting my hair cut here for years, and been fairly satisfied. I arrived for my haircut today with freshly washed hair, 5 mins early. The cut should not have taken more than 15-20 mins. I checked in, but the beautician was not there, so I walked around WalMart for a minute, but by the time I made my way back to the salon I was 5 mins. late. Apparently at the exact time I was to have been there, the stylist took on a walk up customer. She told me she would only be 5-10 mins with this walk up customer, but after 20 mins of waiting, I left and won't be back. I felt totally disrespected, as she engaged in endless chit-chat with the other customer and seemed to be cutting hair as slowly as possible, as if to punish me for being 5 mins. late.

Management does not care about employees
Management [noticeably] favors and rewards bully stylists over newcomer stylists that have ethics and morals. As long as an employee has somewhat of a regular following, that employee is favored over the other newer employees. Regardless of the theft that is occuring, regardless of the smear campaign attempts and bullying attempts that are being done regularly to the newcomer stylists. Was told by management that Sundays are mandatory and that as long as I can work each Sunday that I can have Saturdays off. Less than one month later, management switches it and tells me that Saturdays are mandatory each week. However, certain employees have regularly not had to work Saturdays. Being given mixed signals. Employees with young children are forced to work each Saturday while employees with grown children do not have to work Saturdays or Sundays. Stealing from the company and bullying your coworkers gets you apparently promoted in this company and gets your hourly wage adjusted upwards. Hostile, uncomfortable work environment, concerns skipped over by management. Do not feel valued by my DM. The owner makes efforts to acknowledge achievements from time to time, but the DM does not. Salon appears to favor African-American customers and favors African-American employees over Caucasian/white customers and employees. Stylists who have worked at the salon for one or two years or so are given set schedules, when newer employees are not given their schedule until the day that the work week has already begun. On one occasion I was not even given my schedule for the week until the 2nd day of that week after the week had already begun. On another occasion I was given my schedule for the week on a Sunday which was after the week had already begun. Our schedule goes from Sunday to Saturday. This is no way to live. Especially having young children as a single parent. There are no apparent repercussions for employees/stylists using foul and vulgar language with customers, no repercussions exist for stylists playing unprofessional, vulgar and loud music in the salon despite many customer complaints, there are apparently no repercussions for employee theft unless the theft is being done directly in the salon manager's presence. Obviously the stylist is not dumb enough to do that, therefore, never gets caught. Since day 1 of working there, I have had at least ten (10) different customers tell me that this location seems like the ever revolving door with very high employee turnover. Potential Smartstyle customer beware, potential Smartstyle employee beware!
