I hate to say it but....
I, right now, am in possession of 4 or 5 Biddeford blankets. On 3 of them the thermostates won't work, on one of them I can't find the correct thermostat (I may have taken it to the hospital with me) and on one of them (with two thermostats) one of the thermostats have stopped working after a couple or three months, but the never used thermostat still does. On the last one I bought from a New England bargain chain store who sells a little bit of everything (a lot of electronics that are rebuilt) but devotes a large space to bedding (mattress pads, blankets, sheets, pillows, bath stuff, and more) and has an excellent return policy. It can't be determined if some things will work after having it only a month or two, such as winter things you might buy in the summer. I, however, have been treated so well by Biddeford, that I probably will stick with this brand name. The blankets I bought were two very expensive ones (department store). When the first one stopped working, paractically on the deadline date of 5 years, they replaced it with a beautiful new one! I was flabbergasted. The last three I bought were from discount stores such as K-Mart, on sale, and for what I paid they served me well. Right now, I would like to have the thermostates replaced and try the blankets again. I live in a 150 + year old house in a rural area - when the wind howles, it rocks. I am elderly and need warm blankets. I am contacting Biddeford now to see what they can do. I do save everything, receipts, warrantees, instructions etc., so that may be an advantage to the good relationship I've had with Biddeford, but seeing all these disgruntled comments really surprised me. Maybe when/if Biddeford helped these people out, the people didn't bother to state it. Biddeford, please reply.

Still Working 15 Years Later!
No problems with this blanket. I've even used it next to the mattress and never had a problem. And believe me underneath the mattress it took some abuse over the years. Often three or four times a week for several minutes! It takes a while to heat up and the buttons don't always work the first time I press them but those aren't even a minor inconvenience. Other than that when I wash it I follow the instructions and that's it.

Circuit Board Burned Out
Bought mattress pad heater (TC1680-H made 04-08-2015). Lasted 2 weeks then quit working. Both controllers had a burning smell. Opened them up and on both controllers the same diode/resister (next to large brownish red "CL21" transistor) were burned and melted. Unacceptable! Fire danger! After reading the posts, I don't want a replacement unless they can guarantee that a new set of controllers will not burn my house down!!! - Michael Babayco

ERROR "E" ? / RE-SEAT PAD PLUG
There is NO locking mechanism on the electric mattress connection from the controller to the mattress pad,[ at the mattress pad].
It will continue to give an occasional display of "E" from kicking it loose with your feet until you re-seat it and tie it together with a plastic cable tie, or tape, or string, or STOP kicking it!

Junk
I will never buy another Biddeford blanket. I purchased mine Oct 6th 2017 and have exchanged it 8 times since then. The only reason I didn't return it is because I do not have a receipt. The last time I blanket stopped working I called customer service and after numerous attempts I finally got through. They offered to ship me a new controller which I got in the mail within a few days, that controller also didn't work. This product is absolute Junk!

Heated mattress pad caused Rhabdomyolysis
I've been using Biddeford heated mattress pad for a year now and I constantly wake up freezing and have a hard time actually getting a full night's rest when using this. Last holiday I laid in bed for 3 days sick and I was using my heated mattress pad and I ended up in the hospital with Rhabdomyolysis. I know that this mattress pad has something to do with it. I feel more rested when I don't use it. I think I need to hire a lawyer and file a lawsuit against Biddeford for my hospitalization due to Rhabdomyolysis. I urge you to see how you feel each morning after using the heated mattress pad.

Controller starts to smoke
I haven’t even had the blanket for a month and the controller started to smoke and I don’t know if the wires had started to melt or if it just overheated

8 throws went dead...
I have gone thru 8 of these Biddeford throws now and I dont bother with the warranty hassles. I just buy another one and take the burned out one back and say I changed my mind to get a refund. Clearly the controller is a defective design. For those with a techno brain, A small transistor T2 shorts out spontaniously because its too small and keeps the power SCR on full blast. The power resistor pair heats up until they smoke and a thermal fuse on top of the power resistors opens up and the whole blanket goes dead. I was thinking about swaping out the small T2 with one more robust so this controller stops failing, but i have noticed that the blanket connector is also of poor quality. I have only had a blanket last a few months but if it were to last longer, that blanket connector would get looser and looser and probably overheat and do some melting. So I will soon stop swapping these crappy blankets and buy a Sunbeam one instead.
