To Whom it My Concern,

I recently enrolled to become a Direct Tv customer on January 9th of this year. Two days later the installer tried to install the service but couldn't find a signal and promised me my checking account would be credited in the amount of $219.95.
To make a long story short my account was never credited and I had to call personally and cancel out the Direct Tv service myself on Jan.17th. I ended up closing out my checking account because of a personal matter and didn't realize my account wasn't credited until it was to late. I called last week and was informed that my check was in the mail. So when i didn't receive it this week i called again. Only to be put on hold over and over and be told that i couldn't be found in the computer under my telephone number, address, name, DIRECTV Order Confirmation, or DIRECTV Account Number:
I am having a very hard time finding out where my refund is. And also the time its going to take me to receive it. I'm not in the fanatical situation where i could wait as long as 6 - 8 weeks. Please Help

Military orders and still charged

Direct TV discriminates against military families. Recently, I cancelled my Direct TV service because my family is PCSing. Normally Direct TV has an early cancellation fee of $200. However, I was told that for military customers they waive the fee. I was assured I would not be charged and the account was cancelled successfully. Two weeks later, I was shocked that the $200 still remained on my final bill. I called Direct TV and re-explained the situation. They apologized and reassured me the fee was being removed. At the end of January, $200 was taken out of my bank account by Direct TV. I was infuriated, since I had been told on two occasions the fee was waived due to us being military. I called the company and spoke with a customer service rep who said the matter could only be dealt with by a supervisor and said she would transfer me. After 25 minutes I was told no supervisors were available and needed to continue to be transferred repeatedly to find one. After 45 minutes I hung up and am now having to dispute the charge with my bank instead. The actions of Direct TV are fraudulent and a slap in the face to military families. They claim to offer special services to active duty, and “support the troops. However, they do not fulfill their promises, and only use these supposed offers to improve the reputation of their company. I highly discourage any military families from using Direct TV.

Billing dispute!

This just happen to me today. I got charged over $224 on my card because I cancelled my service early, I think we need to find someone that will take this on for a lawsuit. I am really pissed off that they are able to steal your money without your authorization.

stole money from our bank account

I just closed my account with Direct TV after 3 years and was told at the time of closing I owed nothing and Direct TV probably owed me by pre paying. 2 weeks after closing I get a bill for $435.00 for closing my account too early. I wrote them a note and refused to pay the bill. Yesterday, they took $435 out of my checking account from a credit check card on file that was outdated. The simple answer to your problems when real fraud like this happens is to check with your bank and let them get in touch with the credit card fraud department.
I am told my Visa fraud department I will get my money back tomorrow. Visa Fraud asked me if I wanted to pursure a fraud complaint againt Direct Tv and I agreed. Don't let these crooks steal your money. Direct TV also told me they would have a supervisor to call me back which never happened.

Lawsuit against them

I support this, as a 'would be' customer, and the horrors of my friend Myron of Hamilton, TX and his experiences, I had to tell a sales
rep who were soliciting Direct TV in a blind intrusive telemarketer ad, that I don't agree to the terms of agreement, and I was told there was nothing I can do but pay their price or not get their service!! After arguing and arguing with different morons who worked for Direct TV, and me STANDING MY GROUND, they hung up on me. Hadn't heard from them again. But, I am a happy Netflix customer. For about or at $20.00 a month, for online stream and DVD, I can't complain compared to what everyone pays for in Cable, Dish Network, and Direct TV... I'd say F**k'em, go to Netflix!! If you want to watch a movie, get Netflix.. But as it stands... enough people was leaving Netflix and Netflix changed their ways... (Not that others had good luck with Netflix, but in this economy, choose what you can afford)

If enough people left Cable, Direct TV, and Dish Network, and those go to the Bank and tell them TO STOP auto payment to these
loser networks, will get noticed and the little man have to chose, pay for gas, food, and a good Atari 2100! :) Let these networks
know we aren't born yesterday, not stupid idiots (As Direct TV, and Dish Network have assumed you are a stupid fool lemming)
paying whatever the networks WANT you to pay for what kind of channels? Junk?

Simple math.. if you can't afford it, then don't get it. America has enough problems as it is. Gas prices going up, and things to make
ends meet all more harder. I can learn to live without entertainment since there isn't any thing really good on TV anyways. Smart
Phone payments take a chunk of your income. Then again, you decide. It's your money. But as for me... I can't afford luxury, and at
this time and place.. Back to the Bear Necessities. :) Food, Water, Shelter, Food, Toilet Paper, Paper Towels, Food, Clothes.. gas money, and letting go of services you don't use, don't need and drains your account! Make a Stand, Tell Direct TV, Dish Network and most Cable companies they suck and do what people did to Netflix.. cancel the account, walk away.. pay the fee, but enough people leave WILL scare the CEO's!! Think of this... Most Corporations DONT GIVE A RATT'S BUTT / @$$ about you... THEY ONLY WANT YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!! They give you crap service, and crap channels! It's YOUR ECONOMY AMERICA!

To make this story short, I was told by several sales reps for Directv that I would be able to hook up 4 tv's with one dvr and be able to watch all tvs and record two more stations or be able to record up to 6 different programs at once. This is completely not true. To fix my issue and not have the drv tv changing channels all the time and to stop having things not record because someone is watching a tv, the people on the phone kept telling me to keep the dvr on two tvs, then get each of the other two tv's their own dvr (one for each kid so there are no conflicts). Then I'm told that I have to pay $200 for that because it wasn't on the original order. But with my original order I was told I'd have all the features of having three dvrs in my home, but with only one. The highest level supervisor I could speak to on the phone refused to let me speak at all, just telling me to give them $200 or cancel my service. I canceled and also wanted the $25 I paid for installing since I did not get what I was told I would get and the man hung up on me! I didn't have directv for 24 hours even! And now I have to pay the dish network guy $65 because the directv installer cut all of the dish lines, in more than one place. And he had to go out of his way to do this because he installed the directv from a different area!

Billing for movies not ordered

First, I would change credit card numbers. DirecTV can't be trusted with a credit card because they will charge at will. Secondly, access cards are not 100% secure. This is an exerpt from consumeraffairs.com:

"The "customer service" representative is either misinformed or is intentionally misstating the facts in order to discourage similar complaints. We have evidence that DirecTV knows its "access cards" are being routinely hacked. In other words, the access cards that supposedly are "special" to only one individual account are actually hacked and tapped into buy unscrupulous thieves who then sell the access to other unscrupulous buyers. DirecTV is well aware of this.

What else explains an elderly African American women, while at work and no one has access to her house, is supposedly watching nude blond beach cheerleaders, six times in a row? DirecTV knows it, so they try to pressure their customers into paying for a loss they are too inept to prevent."

So, despite what DirecTV will have you think, it is entirely possible you didn't order those movies. Do some more research and you will find many people have the exact same problem.

Lied about monthly charges

Direct tv has some of the worse customer service I have come across. They also slide in a service contract for an extra $6 a month they don't mention until everything is installed. They installer was rude, messy and could care less. He wrapped the cable from the dish around my downspout. Left the debris from the job all over the house. AT&T Uverse bought out the rest of my contract with Direct to change service.

Lied about monthly charges

If there was a cancellation charge, then obviously you have signed some kind of agreement that states what the pricing structure is.

Stay away - Direct TV sucks!

These chumps at direct tv had better extract their heads from their collective derrierre's. They still don't carry the World Fishing Network but they do carry 6357 other channels with nothing on (AKA Garbage TV). What a joke. Oh how I long for the good old days of 13 VHF channels and a few on UHF with FREE analog broadcasting.

Stay away - Direct TV sucks!

I had a written contract from them saying 30 day return policy. I tried to cancel after 1 day and was told I had to wait until a few days had passed before I could cancel. Then when I called after 3 days ("to let it process through their system"), I was told I had to cancel within 24 hours to not be billed. The fact had a signed contract with 30 day no fault policy didn't matter to them.
The state attorny general saw it different. I got my money back and a window into one of the worst companies I have ever seen. Oh, and the service sucked too.

Their customer service is a joke

Absolutely the worse customer service if that's what you can call it! I recently tried to get service with this company and apparently there was another customer with the same last name as mine who left a balance. They treated me like I was this person and spoke to me in an unprofessional manner. When I asked to speak to a supervisor they put me on hold and never came back. I am glad I never subscribed with them. There customer service is a JOKE!

Stay away - Direct TV sucks!

Why are you screwing over the long term customers that made you what you are today? I believe Krystal stated I had been a customer since 2003, I was looking to lower our monthly bill, AND get our outdated antiquated equipment replaced. The only way I could do that was to cancel my service and become a new subscriber... Krystal indicated that she understood and that she would process our cancellation. NEVER did she indicate that DirecTV would not allow the following.
So I cancelled my service and had my wife activate a new account so that we could get the whole home DVR service (tired of the 'record one, both or cancel notice), and new receivers and reduce our monthly cost by $20-30 while getting a greater DirecTV experience. Today you folks call and cancel our installation and accuse us of being 'criminals' and that DirecTV does not allow this and that we will now be without service for 24 months before we can re-subscribe.
That is a nice "Thank You for being your customer for so long".
Why can't LONG TIME subscribers get receivers and equipment upgrades (AT RESONABLE INTERVALS). Even the phone companies do that.
Our old 2003 Hughes RXs won't do HD, the DVR does 2 channels. Luckily last visit (DVR install) the technician put in a DTV antenna to replace the original DISH antenna that we had to use since our move in 2007.

So again I ask, "Why are you shafting us long time subscribers when you offer such a grand deal to new clients?"
BTW, when you deny an install when your own CS rep does not indicate any inpropriety and then infer that we are criminals for attempting this 'fraudulent act', we usually end up in the legal arena. Which will be fine by me, I can't wait for Dish and the media to get wind of this one.
So, there you have it, one VERY pissed off, dis-satisfied customer.
Likely no one will read this and we will get screwed by a company we have supported and made the premier sat provider on the planet. Unfortunately you forgot who put you there.

I can't wait for the calls to start. Missouri prosecutes 'No Call' violators.

Directv President & CEO contact info:

I have been a customer of DirecTV for almost 10 years. From the day they installed it I have had nothing but complaints for DirecTV. It started with the contractor for DirecTV lying to me about the service. He had a hard time finding a place to put the satellite. I asked and he just mentioned the trees were in the way, so he would have to get a pole and charge us for it to put on the ground. This was done in the fall of the year so we had no way of knowing when the trees bloomed this would interfere with the reception of local channels. As the years went on it got worse and worse. Now from April until the end of November we get no local channels. This same contractor for DirecTV got us for $50. My husband told me to write a check for part of the bill and give him $50 cash. Well I was not thinking and gave him total amount on check and the cash. Caught it right away, called contractor on his cell phone, as he had called for directions. All he did was ignore me. Called office and they said there was nothing they could do because he was contracted out for company. Just had another mistake by company. I have been charged for 6 receivers for 5 months when I should have been charged for 2, of course we get 1 free. When I updated they gave me my 3 receivers but didn't subtract 3. I have used the same checking account since I purchased DirecTV. 3 Months in a row they put my account in wrong and charged me for the mistake. The checks kept being returned and found out through my bank they didn't put the 3 o's in that started my account. Had to pay over $400 to keep my account on. I was talked to and treated like someone who had their checks bounced. It is still on my account and have been trying to talk to someone other than a supervisor. At times they have been helpful, but for the most the representatives and supervisors have been rude. At times I was given specials but the money they have cost me and the aggravation is unbelievable. I broke my back so I relied on the TV to get by. I would never go back to cable, but want the people who work @ DirecTV get a course on how not to make so many mistakes, and how not to be so rude. We pay a lot for our entertainment. My husband and I are both disabled and on a fixed income. Left up to my husband we would be back on cable. The features are great on DirecTV, the mistakes not. They also made a mistake with our Baseball Package. Not understanding, they automatically give it to you the next year if you subscribe one year. They got us one year like that. The following year gave it to us again after telling them, screaming at them 4 times to not add it the next year, still cost us. We both are in and out of hospital and have bill paperless. Computer down most of time, so we just call in check to pay bill. After finding today's mistake, I will now have bills sent to house. Hope someone can help me with all these mistakes.

DirectTV is so frustrating to have! They are just full of BULLSHIT!! It's so upsetting how Customer Service can't help you with a simple thing. It's so fucking easy to see that what you need is manageable and they can't even do it. Is this even a legit company?? Are these people working educated or what?? I'm not even complaining fo my bill right now. Even though it goes up unexpectedly. You start off with one amount (not even the amount they informed you when installing, but something different) and later on it's something else again. I'm just trying to remove those movie channels they give you as a trial, but not being authorizied on the account, which I was suppose to be because I communicated with them during signing up. Now that's their mistake by not adding me, although my phone number and email is the one listed. I just don't get it how these people can be stubborn. And now leading me to corporate. BS!! I just asked for a simple thing. But no they want to wait until my trial is over so they can sneak up on charging us. I'm not even gonna go on my other experiences, I can't wait to move out where DirectTv is not the only cable option in my building.

When you give them your card number you agree to have it deducted for what you owe. They are allowed to charge you and get paid what you owe. And if you agree to pay what you owe, why the complaint?
