Signed up for the freecell Service BYOP, phone wasn't simunlocked, had to download apps that weren't compatible with my phone, cancelled Service, now charging my PayPal $30 one year later. PayPal won't help, and the only way to contact them is by paying for premium service,

Consumer Un-friendly company
My experience:
1) Started out with a premium service for almost a year (included voicemail), but my needs changed and hadn't used it for several months.
2) Went online and downgraded to the free plan, thinking I would go back to the premium plan in the future when my needs changed again.
3) They billed my credit card for the premium service anyway.
4) There was no way to contact customer service to correct what I thought was a simple billing error (doubting how innocent that was now), unless you pay $5.99 for another premium plan. Multiple attempts to reach someone on line just resulted in circuitous searches coming back to the same pages.
5) The credit card company could not remove the billing authorization from my account. They could issue a new card and flag the account to not notify merchants of the account change. As that would mean contacting multiple merchants, I chose not to do that. Instead they filed a dispute and credited the charge back to me, recommending that I wait and see if the billing error recurred the following month.
6) FreedomPop sent an email that they had cancelled my account. There was a link in that email through which I was finally able to reach a customer service agent.
7) He was polite enough and responsive to emails, though it took about 3 exchanges of emails to get a clear picture of what the situation was. He was not empowered to help me in any way unless I removed the credit card dispute (i.e., went ahead and paid for the premium service which I had cancelled). He implied that perhaps a refund could be issued or the account reinstated after that, but by this time FreedomPop no longer had any credibility with me and I felt that more likely I would be setting myself up for more time wasted over another billing issue the next month. The cancellation of my account appeared to be the best possible outcome, and so I left it at that.
8) If you choose to use them, Good Luck!

Don't depend on it.
I bought the same model tablet, and mine absolutely has phone capability (as well as data and text) by just opening the F Pop app.. The tablet does not have a microphone, so you have to plug a headphone/earbud-microphone set (available for a couple of dollars) into the headphone jack.
Having said that, I was 2500 miles from home, and 2500 miles from my 85 year old mother, who has no other relatives available, and F Pop cut off my service without any notice or reason. Upon looking it up (on WIFI) I was informed I had to contact them and was sent to a form to complete and submit, upon which my attempt to submit the form was rejected because free account people are not allowed to submit the form that they are required to submit. Looking into calling or emailing them, I was informed that free account people are also not allowed to call or email, again, despite being informed that contacting someone at F Pop is required.
I just checked my data usage a day or two before my billing period ended and had 300 mb left (of 550 total-500+50 for F Pop friends, so there is no way in hell I went over. If I didn't also have that tablet I would have been F'ed (and my mother would have probably thought I was dead).
If you want one of their devices as an extra device, or just to have in case, it doesn't cost much, but don't depend on it.

Terrible service
I signed up for the free phone, just to try it. My free trial started the day I signed up, which was 14 days long. I received my phone on the 10th day, so I only had a few days left for my trial. This already irritated me. Customer service sucks. It's an automated self-help line. I never talked to a person. I could make outgoing calls on the phone, but could not receive incoming calls, no matter how much I pushed the "talk" button. I cancelled my service the same day I got the phone. Good thing I never cancelled my At&t service. I am willing to pay 93$ a month if I don't have to put up with this crap. DO NOT BOTHER WITH THIS CRAPPY COMPANY!!!

Nightmare: Charged $200 for no service
I was charged $200 and no way to cancel service. I remember trying to call them and no way to reach them. I was just reminded of this because not only did I get charged $200 and did not use the service, I could not cancel it. Finally went to my credit card company and they blocked the monthly charge, but I never got my $200. The credit card said I should have called, but they make it to where you cannot call them. Even now they are still haunting me. I tried to go with Mint Mobile, but will not work because my phone has been locked by Freedom Pop. What a bunch of crap and a big fat scam!!!. I hate these people. It was supposed to be a free service, but they lock you into the high price account and then you can't change to free under the app and cannot contact them by phone.
